ULT 1 CHR Chapter 10

1 CHR 10 ©

10Now the Philistines fought with Israel, and the men of Israel fled from the face of the Philistines, and they fell slain on Mount Gilboa. 2And the Philistines pursued after Saul and after his sons. And the Philistines struck Jonathan and Abinadab and Malchi Shua, the sons of Saul. 3And the battle was heavy against Saul. And the shooters with the bow found him. And he writhed from the shooters. 4And Saul said to the carrier of his equipment, “Draw your sword and stab me with it, lest these uncircumcised ones come and abuse me.” But the carrier of his equipment was not willing, for he feared greatly. So Saul took the sword and fell on it. 5And the carrier of his equipment saw that Saul had died, so he fell, he also, on his sword, and he died. 6So Saul died, and three of his sons, even all of his house, died together.

7And all of the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they had fled and that Saul and his sons had died. And they abandoned their cities and fled. And the Philistines came and dwelled in them. 8And it happened on the next day that the Philistines came to strip the slain. And they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa. 9And they stripped him, and they carried away his head and his weapons. And they sent into the land of the Philistines all around to proclaim to their idols and to the people. 10And they put his weapons in the house of their gods, and they fastened his head in the house of Dagon. 11And all of Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul. 12And all of the men of valor arose and carried away the corpse of Saul and the corpses of his sons, and they brought them to Jabesh. And they buried their bones under the oak tree in Jabesh. And they fasted seven days.

13And Saul died because of his transgression that he transgressed against Yahweh, because of the word of Yahweh that he did not keep, and also for having inquired of a ritual pit for seeking. 14For he did not seek Yahweh, so he killed him. And he turned the kingdom to David, the son of Jesse.
