14 And Hiram, the king of Tyre, sent messengers to David, and trees of cedar and craftsmen of a wall and craftsmen of wood to build a house for him. 2 Then David knew that Yahweh had established him as king over Israel, that his kingdom had been lifted to the height for the sake of his people Israel.
3 And David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David fathered more sons and daughters. 4 And these are the names of the ones born who were to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan and Solomon 5 and Ibhar and Elishua and Elpelet, 6 and Nogah and Nepheg and Japhia 7 and Elishama and Beeliada and Eliphelet.
8 Now the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king over all of Israel, and all of the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard, and he went out to their faces. 9 And the Philistines came, and they spread out in the Valley of the Rephaim. 10 Then David asked God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will you give them into my hand?” And Yahweh said to him, “Go up, for I will give them into your hand.” 11 And they went up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there. And David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like the breaking through of waters.” Therefore they call the name of that place Baal Perazim. 12 And they abandoned their gods there, and David spoke, and they were burned with fire.
13 And the Philistines added again, and they spread out in the valley. 14 And David asked God again. And God said to him, “Do not go up after them; circle around from upon them and come at them from opposite the balsam trees. 15 And it will be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go out in battle, for God has gone out to your face to strike the camp of the Philistines.” 16 And David did according to what God had commanded. And he struck the camp of the Philistines, from Gibeon and unto Gezer. 17 And the name of David went out into all of the lands, and Yahweh put the fear of him on all of the nations.
