OET 1 CHR chapter 14

14 One day King Hiram from Tsor (Tyre) sent messengers to David, along with cedar timber and stone masons and carpenters to build a house for him. 2 By then David had realised that Yahweh had established him as king over Yisrael—that his kingdom was being made more prominent for the sake of Yahweh’s people Yisrael.

3 Then David took more wives in Yerushalem and he fathered more sons and daughters. 4 These are his children who were born there in Yerushalem: Shammua, Shovav, Natan, Shelomoh (Solomon), 5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nefeg, Yafia, 7 Elishama, Beelyada, and Elifelet.

14:8 The defeat of the Philistines

8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king over all Yisrael, the entire Philistine army went up into the hill country to eliminate him. David got this news and took his army out to meet them. 9 Meanwhile, the Philistines went and raided the Refaim valley, 10 and David asked God, “Should I take on the Philistines, and will you give me victory over them?”

“Go ahead,” Yahweh answered, “and I’ll enable you to defeat them.”

11 Then they[fn] went up to what’s now called Baal-Peratsim, and David defeated them down there. David said, “God has used me to break through my enemies like a flooded river breaking a dam.” Therefore they named that place Baal-Peratsim (which means ‘the master bursts through’). 12 The Philistines abandoned their idols as they fled, and David ordered them to be burnt.

13 But soon the Philistines raided the valley again, 14 and David asked God’s advice again. “Don’t go uphill after them,” God said, “but circle around them and confront them in front of the balsam trees. 15 When you hear the sound of the marching in the tops of the balsam trees, that’s when you should attack, because God will have gone out ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army.” 16 So David did just as God had told him, and he attacked the Philistines from Giveon all the way to Gezer. 17 So David’s reputation spread everywhere, and Yahweh caused the other nations to be afraid of him.

14 and_he _sent Ḩūrām[fn] the _king _of Tsor/(Tyre) messengers to Dāvid and_wood(s)_of cedars and_craftsmen _of a _wall and_craftsmen _of wood(s) to_build to_him/it a _house.
2 And_ Dāvid _he/it _knew if/because _that he_had _appointed _him YHWH to_king over Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) if/because _that was_exalted (to)_upwards his/its_kingdom in_account _of people _of_his Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel).

4 And_these are_the _names _of the_ones_born who they _belonged to_him/it in_Yərūshālam/(Jerusalem) Shammūˊa and_Shōⱱāⱱ Nātān and_Shəlomoh/(Solomon).
5 And_Yāⱱəḩar/(Ibhar) and_ʼElīshūˊa and_ʼElīfeleţ.
6 And_Nogah and_Nefeg and_Yāfīˊa/(Japhia).
7 And_ʼElīshāˊma and_Bəˊelyādāˊ and_ʼElīfeleţ.
8 And_ the_Fəlishtiy _they _heard if/because _that Dāvid he _had _been _anointed to_king over all _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) and_ all _of _they _went _up the_Fəlishtiy to_seek DOM Dāvid and_ Dāvid _he/it _listened and_he/it _went _out before_them.
9 And_the_Fəlishtiy they _had _come and_they _had _made _a _raid in_the _valley _of Rəfāʼīm.
10 And_ Dāvid _he _enquired by_god to_say will_I _go _up on the_Fəlishtiy[fn] and_will_you(pl)_give _them in_my _of_hand and_he/it _said to_him/it YHWH go _up and_I_will _give _them in_your _of_hand.
11 And_they _went _up in pərāʦīm and_he_defeated _them there Dāvid and_ Dāvid _he/it _said he _has _broken _through the_ʼElohīm DOM enemies _of_my by_my _of_hand like_a _breaking _out _of water therefore yes/correct/thus/so people _called the _name _of the _place (the)_that Baˊal Pərāʦīm.
12 And_they _abandoned there DOM gods _of_their and_ Dāvid _he/it _said and_they _were _burnt with_fire.
13 and_they _repeated again the_Fəlishtiy and_they _made _a _raid in_valley.
14 And_he _enquired again Dāvid by_god and_he/it _said to_him/it the_ʼElohīm not you _must _go _up after_them go _around from_on_them and_you _will _come to/for_them from_in _front _of the _balsam_trees.
15 And_let _it _be just_as_you _hear DOM the _sound _of (the)_marching in_the _tops _of the _balsam _trees then you _will _go _out in_battle if/because he _has _gone _out the_ʼElohīm to_your_face to_attack DOM the _camp _of the_Fəlishtiy.
16 And_ Dāvid _he/it _made just_as he_had _commanded _him the_ʼElohīm and_they _defeated DOM the _camp _of the_Fəlishtiy from_Giⱱˊōn and_unto (to)_Gezer.
17 And_ the _name _of _he/it _went _out of _Dāvid in_all the_lands and_YHWH he _put DOM of _him _of_dread on all _of the_nations.
