BERECHIAH*

1. Son of Zerubbabel and descendant of King David (1 Chr 3:20).

2. Levite, Gershon’s descendant and father of Asaph (1 Chr 6:39; 15:17). Asaph was a famous musician of Israel.

3. Asa’s son and head of a family of Levites who returned to Judah after the Babylonian exile (1 Chr 9:16).

4. Levite appointed by King David as gatekeeper for the ark of the covenant (1 Chr 15:23).

5. Meshillemoth’s son, a leader of Ephraim’s tribe. He was one of three men in Samaria who supported the prophet Obed in sending prisoners of war back to their homes in Judah (2 Chr 28:12).
