6:43 The tree is recognised by its fruit
(Mat. 7:16-20; 12:33-35)
43 “A good tree doesn’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree doesn’t produce good fruit, 44 but each tree is recognised by the fruit it produces. You don’t pick figs from thistles or pick grapes from thorn bushes.[ref] 45 A good person produces good deeds as a result of all the good things inside them, and an evil person produces evil deeds as a result of the evil inside, because what comes out of your mouth originates in your mind.[ref]
16 You people will know who they are if you observe their fruit. Does anyone pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Similarly, every good tree produces good fruit, but the bad tree produces evil fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.[ref] 20 So then, you’ll know the false teachers by observing their fruit.[ref]
33 “Either make both the tree and its fruit good, or make them both bad, because a tree is known by its fruit.[ref] 34 You brood of snakes! You’re evil inside, so why do you think you can say anything that’s good? After all, your mouths speak out of what’s plentiful in your hearts.[ref] 35 A good person produces good words out of their store of goodness, and an evil person produces evil words out of their store of evil.
Mat 12:33:
33 “Either make both the tree and its fruit good, or make them both bad, because a tree is known by its fruit.[ref]
Mat 12:34:
34 You brood of snakes! You’re evil inside, so why do you think you can say anything that’s good? After all, your mouths speak out of what’s plentiful in your hearts.[ref]
Mat 3:10:
10 The axe has already been placed at the base of the trees ready to cut down any tree that’s not producing good fruit, and then it’ll be thrown into the fire.[ref]
