This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.
15 The Philistines started attacking Yisrael again, and David and his men went down towards the coast and fought back, but David became exhausted. 16 The Philistines had a champion named Yishbi-Benov who was a descendant of giants. He wore new armour and his bronze spear weighed over three kilograms. He intended to kill David 17 but Tseruyah’s son Abishai helped David, and he struck the Philistine and killed him. Then, David’s men made a decision, saying, “You won’t go out to battle with us anymore because we don’t want Yisrael’s lamp to be extinguished.”[ref]
18 Some time after that, there was another battle with the Philistines at Gov, and Sibbecai (the Hushathite) killed Saph who was another descendant of the giants.
19 Then in another battle with the Philistines at Gov, Elhanan (son of Yaare-Oregim, from Beyt-Lehem) killed Goliath the Gittite even though his spear handle was like a weaver’s beam.
20 In a different battle in Gat, there was a fierce man there with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot who was also a descendant of the giants, 21 but when he taunted Yisrael, Yonatan (son of David’s brother Shimeah) killed him. 22 Those four men were descendants of the giants in Gat, but they were killed by David and his men.
4 Some time later, war broke out with the Philistines at Gezer, then Sibbekai the Hushatite struck down Sippai, from the descendants of the Refaim, and they were subdued.
5 Then there was another battle with the Philistines, and Yair’s son Elhanan killed Lahmi the brother of Goliyat (Goliath)[ref] the Gittite (i.e., from Gat), even though his spear shaft was as thick as the beam of a weaver’s loom. 6 There was also war at Gat where there was a very tall man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot who was also a descendant of Rafa. 7 When he insulted Yisrael, Shimea’s son Yonatan killed him. (Shimea was one of David’s older brothers.)
8 Those were the descendants of Rafa from Gat who were killed by David and he men.
1Ki 11:36:
36 I’ll give Shelomoh’s son one tribe to rule so that one of David’s descendants will always rule in my chosen city Yerushalem because it’s associated with my name.
Psa 132:17:
17 I’ll cause on of David’s descendants to become a great king there,[ref]
and shine the light on the one I’ve chosen.
1Sam 17:4-7:
4 Then the Philistines sent a champion out from their camp to represent them. His name was Goliat and he came from Gat, and he was almost three metres[fn] tall. 5 He wore a bronze helmet, and his body armour had overlapping plates weighing a total of some fifty-five kilograms. 6 He had bronze armour on his legs, and a bronze plate[fn] between his shoulders. 7 The wooden shaft of his spear was like a weaver’s beam and his spear time weighed around seven kilograms. His shield-bearer walked in front of him.
