19:40 Yehudah and Yisrael disagree

40 Then the king crossed over to Gilgal, and Kimham crossed over with him. All the people of Yehudah (Judah) brought the king over and also about half of the people of Yisrael (Israel). 41 Then, wow, all the men of Yisrael went to the king and demanded, “Why did our relatives from Yehudah secret you away without inviting us? They took you and your household over the Yarden (Jordan), and all your men as well.”

42 All the men of Yehudah answered the men of Yisrael, “Because the king is from our tribe—our close relative. Why should that make you all angry? Do you all think that the king has rewarded us with fancy food or other privileges?”

43 The men of Yisrael answered the men of Yehudah, “Our ten tribes give us ten shares in the king—more than you. So why do you look down on us? Weren’t we the first to talk about bringing our king back to Yerushalem (Jerusalem)?”

But what the men of Yehudah said was harsher than what the ten other tribes said.

41 [fn] And_ the_king _he/it _passed _through to_(the)_Gilgal and_Kimhan he _passed _over with_him/it and_all the _people _of Yəhūdāh/(Judah) and[fn] DOM the_king and_also (the)_half _of the _people _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel).

42 [fn] And_BEHOLD/LO/SEE every _of (the)_man _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) were_coming to the_king and_they _said to the_king why did_they _steal _you brothers _of_our the _man _of Yəhūdāh and_they _brought _over DOM the_king and_DOM household _of_his DOM the_Yardēn/(Jordan) and_all the _men _of Dāvid with_him/it.

43 [fn] And_ every _of (the)_man _of Yəhūdāh _he _answered to the _man _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) if/because is_close the_king to_me and_for_what this has _it _burnt to/for_yourself(m) on the_matter the_this ever_(eat) have _we _eaten from the_king or ever _(be _taken _away) has _it _been _taken _away to/for_us.

44 [fn] And_ the _man _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) _he _answered DOM the _man _of Yəhūdāh and_he/it _said ten hands to_me in_king and_also in_Dāvid I more_than _you and_why did_you _treat _me _with _contempt and_not message _of_my was _it first to_me to_bring _back DOM king _of_my and_ the _message _of the _man _of Yəhūdāh/(Judah) _it _was _hard more_than _the _message _of the _man _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel).
