1. One of Kohath’s sons from Levi’s tribe (Ex 6:18, 21 OET EXO 6:18 · OET EXO 6:21; Nm 3:19; 16:1; 1 Chr 6:2, 18, 38 OET CH1 6:2 · OET CH1 6:18 · OET CH1 6:38; 23:12, 18 OET CH1 23:12 · OET CH1 23:18), and father of the Izharite family (Nm 3:27; 1 Chr 24:22; 26:23, 29 OET CH1 26:23 · OET CH1 26:29); alternately called Amminadab in 1 Chronicles 6:22. One of Izhar’s sons was Korah, who led the rebellion against Moses and Aaron (Nm 16:1-11).
