37:1 Making the sacred box

(Exo. 25:10-22)

37Then Bezalel made the sacred chest from acacia wood—it was 1.2m long, 0.75m wide, and 0.75m high. 2He overlaid both the inside and the outside with pure gold, and made a gold moulding all around it, 3and he cast four rings of gold and attached them to its four feet—two rings on each one side. 4He made two acacia wood poles and overlaid them with gold, 5and he put the poles into the rings on the sides of the box for carrying it.

6Then he made the atonement platform from pure gold to fit as the lid for the box, so it was also 1.2m long and 0.75m wide, 7then from the ends of the lid, he hammered the gold to form two winged creatures. 8There was a winged creature sitting on each end of the atonement platform made from its two ends, 9and they were spreading their wings upwards to cover over the platform. They faced each other, looking down towards the atonement platform.
