37 The hand of Yahweh was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of Yahweh and set me down in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones. 2 And he made me pass over them all around, all around, and behold, they were very many upon the face of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. 3 And he said to me, “Son of man, will these bones live?” And I said, “Lord Yahweh, you, you know.” 4 And he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of Yahweh! 5 Thus says the Lord Yahweh to these bones: “Behold, I am bringing breath into you, and you will live. 6 And I will put sinews upon you, and I will bring up flesh upon you, and I will spread skin over you, and I will put breath in you, and you will live. And you will know that I am Yahweh.” ’ ” 7 And I prophesied just as I was commanded. And there was a sound as I prophesied, and behold, a rattling! And the bones drew near, bone to its bone. 8 And I looked, and behold, sinews were upon them, and flesh came up, and skin spread over them from above, but there was no breath in them. 9 And he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath! Prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “From the four winds come, breath, and breathe into these killed ones, and may they live.” ’ ” 10 And I prophesied just as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood upon their feet, a very, very great army.
11 And he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Behold, they are saying, ‘Our bones have dried up, and our hope has perished. We are cut off to ourselves.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Behold, I am opening your graves, and I will bring you up from your graves, my people, and I will bring you to the land of Israel. 13 And you will know that I am Yahweh when I open your graves and when I bring you up from your graves, my people. 14 And I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live, and I will set you upon your land. And you will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken and I have done it” ’ ”— the declaration of Yahweh.
15 And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 16 “And you, son of man, take for yourself one stick and write on it, ‘For Judah and for the sons of Israel, his companions.’ And take another stick and write on it, ‘For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and all the house of Israel, his companions.’ 17 And bring them near, one to another, for yourself, into one stick, and they will be as one in your hand. 18 And when the sons of your people say to you, saying, ‘Will you not tell us what these are to you?’ 19 speak to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Behold, I am taking the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions, and I will put them upon it, with the stick of Judah, and I will make them into one stick, and they will be one in my hand.” ’ 20 And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 And speak to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Behold, I am taking the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from all around, and I will bring them to their land. 22 And I will make them into one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will be for all of them as king. And they will no longer be two nations, and they will no longer be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 And they will no longer defile themselves with their idols and with their detestable things and with all their transgressions. And I will save them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and I will cleanse them. And they will be to me as a people, and I, I will be to them as God. 24 And my servant David will be king over them, and one shepherd will be for all of them. And they will walk in my judgments, and they will keep my statutes and do them. 25 And they will dwell upon the land that I gave to my servant, to Jacob, in which your fathers dwelt. And they will dwell upon it, they and their sons and the sons of their sons, forever. And David my servant will be prince to them forever. 26 And I will cut for them a covenant of peace; it will be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them and I will multiply them, and I will put my sanctuary in their midst forever. 27 And my dwelling place will be over them, and I will be to them as God, and they, they will be to me as a people. 28 And the nations will know that I am Yahweh, the one making Israel holy, when my sanctuary is in their midst forever.” ’ ”
