34 And the word of Yahweh was to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and you shall say to them, to the shepherds, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe, shepherds of Israel who have been shepherding themselves! Should not the shepherds shepherd the flock? 3 The fat you eat, and the wool you wear; the fat one you slaughter. The flock you do not shepherd. 4 The weak ones you have not strengthened, and the sick one you have not healed, and the broken one you have not bound up, and the one driven away you have not brought back, and the perishing one you have not searched for. And with force you have subjugated them, and with harshness. 5 And they scattered without a shepherd, and they became food for every living thing of the field, and they scattered. 6 My flock stray on all of the mountains and on every high hill, and over all of the face of the land my flock were scattered, and there is no one seeking, and there is no one searching.
7 Therefore, shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh: 8 By my life—the declaration of the Lord Yahweh—If it is not because of my flock becoming prey, and my flock has become food for every living thing of the field from there being no shepherd, and my shepherds did not seek my flock, and the shepherds shepherded themselves and they did not shepherd my flock—
9 therefore, shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh: 10 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold me, against the shepherds! And I will seek my flock from their hand, and I will cause them to cease from shepherding the flock, and the shepherds will no longer shepherd themselves. And I will deliver my flock from their mouth, and they will not be food for them.
11 For thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold me, me, I will seek my flock, and I will attend to them. 12 Like the attending of a shepherd of his flock in the day of his being in the midst of his scattered flock, thus I will attend to my flock. And I will deliver them from all of the places which they were scattered there in a day of cloud and thick darkness. 13 And I will bring them out from the peoples, and I will gather them from the lands, and I will bring them to their land. And I will shepherd them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams and in all of the dwelling places of the land. 14 In a good pasture I will shepherd them, and on the mountains of the height of Israel their habitation will be. There they will lie down in a good habitation, and a fat pasture they will graze among the mountains of Israel. 15 I, I will shepherd my flock, and I, I will make them lie down—the declaration of the Lord Yahweh. 16 The perishing one I will search for, and the one driven away I will bring back, and the broken one I will bind up, and the sick one I will strengthen. But the fat one and the strong one I will destroy. I will shepherd it with justice.
17 And you, my flock, thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold me, judging between a sheep and a sheep, between the rams and the male goats. 18 Is it too little for you, that you graze the good pasture, and the rest of your pastures you trample with your feet, and you drink the settled waters, and the remaining ones with your feet you muddy? 19 And my flock, the trampling of your feet they graze, and the muddying of your feet they drink.
20 Therefore, thus says the Lord Yahweh to them: Behold me, me, I will judge between a fat sheep and between a lean sheep, 21 because with side and with shoulder you push, and with your horns you gore all of the weak ones, until you have scattered them to the outside. 22 And I will save my flock, and they will no longer be plunder, and I will judge between a sheep and a sheep. 23 And I will raise up over them one shepherd—and he will shepherd them—my servant David. He, he will shepherd them, and he, he will be the shepherd to them. 24 And I, Yahweh, will be God to them, and my servant David, will be a prince in their midst. I, Yahweh, have spoken.
25 And I will cut for them a covenant of peace, and I will cause the harmful living thing to cease from the land. And they will dwell in the wilderness in security, and they will sleep in the forests. 26 And I will make them and the surroundings of my hill a blessing, and I will bring down the rain in its time. Rains of blessing they will be. 27 And the tree of the field will give its fruit, and the land will give its produce, and they will be on their land in security. And they will know that I am Yahweh in my breaking of the bars of their yoke and I will deliver them from the hand of the ones enslaving on them. 28 And they will no longer be plunder for the nations, and the living thing of the land will not eat them. And they will dwell in security, and there will be no one making them afraid. 29 And I will raise up for them a planting for a name, and they will no longer be gathered ones of famine in the land, and they will no longer bear the humiliation of the nations. 30 And they will know that I, Yahweh their God, am with them, and they, are my people, the house of Israel—the declaration of the Lord Yahweh. 31 And you are my flock, the flock of my pasture. You are man. I am your God—the declaration of the Lord Yahweh.’ ”
