115 Not to us, Yahweh, not to us,

but to your name bring honour,

for your loyal commitment and for your trustworthiness.

2 Why should the other nations have to ask,

“Where is their god?”

3 Our god is in heaven—

he does whatever he wants.

4 The other nations’ gods are gold and silver idols

that people have made with their own hands.

5 Those idols have mouths, but they can’t speak.

≈ They have eyes, but they can’t see.

6 They have ears, but they can’t hear.

≈ They have noses, but they can’t smell.

7 They have hands, but can’t feel anything.

≈ They have feet, but can’t walk.

They can’t make any sounds in their throats.

8 The people who make them are just like them,

as is everyone who trusts them to help them.

9 Yisrael (Israel), trust in Yahweh—

he’s your help and protection.

10 You priests, descendants of Aharon, trust in Yahweh—

he’s your help and protection.

11 You who respect and strive to obey Yahweh, trust in him—

he’s your help and protection.

12 Yahweh takes notice of us and will bless us.

He’ll bless the descendants of Yisrael.

≈ He’ll bless the descendants of Aharon.

13 He will bless those who honour him—

both young and old.

14 May Yahweh give more and more children to you all,

and also to your descendants.

15 May you all be blessed by Yahweh

who made heaven and earth.

16 The heavens, yes, the heavens belong to Yahweh,

but he’s given the earth to humanity.

17 The dead don’t praise Yah,

nor do any of those who go down into silence.

18 But we have decided to bless Yahweh

now and forevermore.
