Encouragement to be generous

This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.

Literal Version

8:1 Encouragement to be generous

8[ref]And then, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about how God showed kindness to the assemblies in Macedonia 2in that as they proved themselves in a time of persecution, they continued to show great positivity and from the depth of their poverty, their generosity resulted in plentiful riches. 3So I’m testifying about their ability, and besides that, they voluntarily 4and enthusiastically begged us to allow them the grace and fellowship that would come from their service to other believers. 5It wasn’t something that we expected of them, but they gave themselvesfirstly to the master, and also to us by God’s will. 6So we encouraged Titos that just as he began to do previously, that he would go on to cultivate this generosity in you. 7But since you’re all prolific in everything—in faith and speech and knowledge and all earnestness and in the love from us to you all—make sure that you’re all prolific in this grace of giving.

8I’m not saying this as a command, but approving the genuineness of your love through the earnestness of others. 9because you all have experienced the grace of our master Yeshua Messiah: that although he was rich, he became poor so that all of you in your poverty might become rich.

10And I’m giving my opinion on this because it’s beneficial for you all not only to do what began last year, but to do it willingly. 11Now you should see this through so that you’re all not just ready to be willing, but also to actually accomplish that from what you have, 12because if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what they do not have.

13Of course, it’s not that others should be relaxing while you all endure difficulty, but with an aim of equality. 14At the present time, your excess will help those who’re in need—another time their excess might meet your need to bring about equality. 15As the scriptures say:[ref]

‘The person who gathered much didn’t have too much,

and the person who gathered little didn’t have any lack.’

8And we_are_making_known to_you_all, brothers, the grace of_ the _god which having_been_given among the assemblies of_ the _Makedonia, 2that in much provenness of_tribulation, the abundance of_the joy of_them and which according_to depth poverty of_them, been_plentiful into the riches of_the generosity of_them.
3Because according_to ^their_ability I_am_testifying, and beside ^their_ability, voluntary 4with much exhortation beseeching of_us, the grace and the fellowship of_the service which among the holy ones.
5And not as we_hoped, but themselves they_gave, first to_the master, and to_us, by the_will of_god.
6In_order that to_exhort us Titos, in_order_that as he_previously_began, thus also he_may_accomplish in you_all also the grace this.
7But as in everything you_all_are_being_plentiful, in_faith, and speech, and knowledge, and all earnestness, and the from us to you_all love, in_order_that also in this the grace you_all_may_be_being_plentiful.
8Not as a_command I_am_speaking, but through the of_others earnestness, also the the of_your love genuine approving.
9For/Because you_all_are_knowing the grace of_the master of_us, Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) chosen_one/messiah, that because_of you_all he_became_poor, rich being, in_order_that you_all by_the of_that one poverty may_be_rich.
10And a_opinion in this I_am_giving, because/for this for_you_all is_benefitting, who not only which to_do, but also which to_be_willing, previously_began from last_year.
11But now also which to_do accomplish you, so_that just_as the readiness of_the one to_be_willing, thus also that to_accomplish out_of that to_be_having.
12For/Because if the readiness is_lying_before, as if he_may_be_having acceptable it_is, not as not he_is_having.
13For/Because not in_order_that to_others relaxation may_be, to_you_all tribulation, but of equality.
14At the present time, the of_you_all excess is for the one of_those need, in_order_that also the of_those excess may_become for the of_you_all need, so_that there_may_become equality.
15As it_has_been_written:
The one with_the much, not been_plentiful, and the one with_the little, no had_less.
