The division of the main block west of the Yordan

Jos 14:1–5

14These are what the Israelis inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest and Yehoshua (Nun’s son) and the leaders of the Israelis gave them as an inheritance. 2Their allocations were made by casting lots for the nine and a half tribes, just as Yahweh had commanded through Mosheh.[ref] 3(Mosheh had given the other two and a half tribes their inheritance on the other side of the river, but the Levites weren’t given land as an inheritance[ref]4instead of land they were given cities to live in, along with the surrounding fields for their livestock. Yosef’s two sons Menashsheh and Efrayim were considered as two tribes.) 5The Israelis did just as Yahweh had commanded Moshehthey allocated blocks of the land as permanent possessions.

Deu 3:12-17:

12So we captured that land at that time—from Aroer by the Arnon river, and half of the hill country of Gilead including its cities. I allocated those areas to the tribes of Reuven and Gad. 13Then the rest of Gilead and all of Bashan which had been Og’s kingdom, I allocated to half of the tribe of Menashsheh.”

(That whole area is called the land of the Refaites. 14Menashsheh’s son Yair had captured the Argov region as far as the borders with the Geshurites and Maacatites, renaming Bashan to Havvot-Yair as it’s still called to this day.)

15Then I allocated Gilead to Makir (a clan descended from Menashsheh), 16and I gave the southern part of Gilead to the tribes of Reuven and Gad, extending from the Arnon river (with the middle of it being the boundary) to the Yabbok river which borders against the Ammonites. 17The border extends from the plain along the east side of the Yorden valley, from Lake Kinneret in the north to the Arabah lake (the Salt Sea or Dead Sea) in the south and to the slopes of Mt. Pisgah on the east.
