Songs 30/Thanking Yahweh after sickness

Psa 30:1–12

30 A song by David for the temple dedication.

30I’ll praise you, Yahweh, because you’ve helped me succeed

and haven’t allowed my enemies to take advantage of me.

2Yahweh my God, I called out to you for help,

and you healed me.

3Yahweh, you’ve saved me from death.

You’ve kept me alive from going down into the grave.

4Sing praises to Yahweh, you who’re faithful to him.

Give thanks to the sinless one

5because his anger is only for a moment, but his favour is for a lifetime.

Weeping comes for a night, but happiness comes in the morning.

6When things were going well, I said,

Nothing will ever shake me.”

7Yahweh, by your favour you established me as a strong mountain,

but when you moved out of sight from me, I got worried.

8I called out to you for help, Yahweh,

and tried to win my master’s favour.

9What advantage would there be in my death,

if I go down to the grave?

Will the dust praise you?

Will it declare your faithfulness?

10Listen to me, Yahweh, and have mercy on me

Yahweh, be my helper.

11You’ve turned my mourning into dancing for me.

You’ve removed my mourning clothes and dressed me with gladness instead.

12So now my glory will sing praise to you and not be silent; Yahweh my God, I will give thanks to you forever.
