Song 75/God the judge

Psa 75:1–10

75 For the musical director: a song by Asaf to be sung to the tune of ‘Don’t destroy’.

75We give thanks to you, God.

We thank you because you reveal your presence.

People talk about the amazing things you’ve done.

2At the appointed time I will judge fairly.

3Although the earth and all its inhabitants shake in fear,

I’ll steady the earth’s foundations. (Instrumental break.)

4I told the arrogant, “Stop bragging,”

and the wicked, “Don’t blow your own trumpet.

5Don’t raise your head ready to charge.

Don’t speak with your nose in the air.”

6It’s not from the east or from the west,

and it is not from the wilderness that lifting up comes

7because God is the judge.

He brings one down one and lifts up another

8because Yahweh has a full cup of foaming wine mixed with spices

that he holds in his hand and pours it out.

Surely all the wicked people across the earth will drink it to the last drop.

9But I will continually talk about what you’ve done;

I’ll sing praises to Yakov’s God.

10He says, “I’ll destroy the power of the wicked,

but will increase the strength of the righteous.”
