Readers’ Version

Literal Version

5Every high priest is just a person who was selected from the people to work with godly things both by offering gifts to God and sacrificing because of our sins. 2He’s able to be patient with those who don’t understand and stray from the truth because he also is subject to weakness 3and because of that, he has to make offerings for his own sins as well as for the people.[ref]

4No one takes that honour upon themself, but they’re called by God like just Aaron was.[ref] 5Similarly the messiah didn’t take the honour of being chief priest upon himself, but the one who spoke to him said:[ref]

‘You’re my son;

today I have given birth to you.’

6And in another place he said:[ref]

‘You are a priest of the order of Melchizedek.’

7[ref]During the time when Yeshua lived in a human body, he offered up prayers and petitions with a mighty clamour and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. 8Although he was a son, he learnt obedience from what he suffered 9and once he became perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who submitted to him 10as he’d been designated by God as the high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

5For/Because every chief_priest from people being_taken for people is_being_appointed in_the things for the god, in_order_that he_may_be_offering gifts both and sacrifices for sins, 2to_be_forbearing being_able with_the ones not_knowing and being_strayed, because also he is_being_encompassed with_weakness, 3and because_of it he_ought, as for the people thus also for himself, to_be_offering for sins.
4And not on_himself anyone is_taking the honour, but being_called by the god, just_as also Aʼarōn/(ʼAhₐron).
5Thus also the chosen_one/messiah not himself glorified to_be_become a_chief_priest, but the one having_spoken to him:
son of_me are you, I today have_bore you.
6As also in another he_is_saying:
You are a_priest to the age according_to the order of_Melⱪisedek/(Malkī-ʦedeq).
7Who in the days of_the flesh of_him, petitions both and supplications, to the one being_able to_be_saving him from death, with clamour mighty and tears having_offered, and having_been_listened_to from the reverence.
8Although being a_son, he_learned from what things he_suffered the obedience, 9and having_been_perfected, he_became to_all the ones submitting to_him the_cause of_salvation eternal, 10having_been_designated by the god a_chief_priest according_to the order of_Melⱪisedek.

5:11 Becoming mature believers

11We have a lot to say about that, but it’s hard to explain because you’ve all become lazy at listening. 12Yes, because you all ought to be teachers by now, yet you still need to have someone teaching you the basics of God’s ways and you’ve become like those who need milk instead of solid food.[ref] 13Everyone who drinks milk doesn’t really understand the message about righteousness, because they’re still infants, 14but mature people have solid food meaning that their senses have been trained and they can distinguish good from evil.

11Concerning whom much to_us the speech, and hard_to_explain to_be_speaking, because sluggish you_all_have_become in_the hearing.
12For/Because even ought to_be teachers because_of the time, again need you_all_are_having of_the one to_be_teaching you_all, someone the principles of_the beginning of_the oracles of_ the _god, and you_all_have_become need having of_milk, not of_solid food.
13For/Because everyone which partaking of_milk is inexperienced in_the_message of_righteousness, because/for an_infant he_is.
14But for_the_mature is the solid food, of_who because_of the practice their senses having_been_trained, having for distinction, of_good both and evil.
