Moab

2 This is what Yahweh says:

“Even if Moab was three or four sins below the threshold,

I wouldn’t turn away its punishment,

because he completely burnt up the bones of Edom’s king.[ref]

2 I’ll send fire on Moab,

and it will devour Keriot’s fortresses.

Moab will die in an uproar—

with shouting and the sound of the horn. 3 I’ll wipe out her judge,

≈ and I’ll kill all the leaders along with him,”

says Yahweh.

2:4 Yehudah’s punishment

Southern kingdom

4 This is what Yahweh says:

“Even if Yehudah was three or four sins below the threshold,

I wouldn’t turn away its punishment,

because they rejected Yahweh’s instructions

≈ and didn’t keep his regulations.

Their lies caused them to go astray,

just like their ancestors had done. 5 I’ll send fire on Yehudah,

and it’ll devour Yerushalem’s fortresses.”

2:6 Yisrael’s punishment

Northern kingdom

6 This is what Yahweh says:

“Even if Yisrael was three or four sins below the threshold,

I wouldn’t turn away its punishment,

because they sold the innocent for silver

≈ and the needy for a pair of sandals. 7 They trample the heads of the poor into the dust.

They just push the oppressed out of the way.

A man and his father go lie with the same girl

and so profane my sinless reputation. 8 They lie down beside every altar on clothes taken from the poor as pledges,

and in the house of their god they drink the wine of those who were fined.

9 Yet I destroyed the Amorites before them.

They were as tall as of cedars

and as strong as oaks.

Yet I destroyed their fruit up high

and their roots down below.[ref] 10 Also, I brought you all out of Egypt (Heb. Mitsrayim)

and led you forty years in the wilderness

so you all could possess the land of the Amorites.

11 I raised prophets up from among your sons

≈ and devoted Nazirites from your young men.

Isn’t that right, you Israelis?

This is Yahweh’s declaration.[ref]

12 But you all persuaded the Nazirites to drink wine[ref]

and ordered the prophets not to prophesy.

13 Listen, I’m going to make you lose your stability

just like a cart wobbles when it’s carrying a heavy load of grain.

14 Even fast people won’t be able to reach a safe place.

≈ The strong won’t have enough strength of their own,

≈ and the powerful won’t be able to save themselves.

15 The archer holding the bow will be forced to retreat.

Even the fast runner won’t be able to escape.

The horse-rider won’t escape with his life.

16 Even the bravest warriors will flee naked that day.

That is Yahweh’s declaration.

4 thus YHWH he _says on three (the)_transgressions _of Yəhūdāh/(Judah) and_on four not I_will _revoke _it because they_have _rejected DOM the _law _of YHWH and_his _of_regulations not they _have _kept and_they_have _misled _them lies _of_their which they _walked ancestors _of_their after_them.
5 And_I _will _send _forth a _fire on_Yəhūdāh and_it _will _consume the _fortresses _of Yərūshālam/(Jerusalem).
6 thus YHWH he _says on three (the)_transgressions _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) and_on four not I_will _revoke _it because they_sold for_silver the_righteous and_the_needy in_account _of a _pair _of _sandals.
7 those_who_trample on the_dust _of the_earth on_the_head _of poor_people and_the_way _of humble_people they _turn _aside and_a _man and_his _of_father they _go into the _young_woman so _as to _profane DOM the _name _of my _holiness _of_of.
8 And_on garments taken _as _pledges they _stretch _out beside every _of altar and_wine fines they _drink the _house _of their _god _of_of.
9 And_I I _destroyed DOM the_ʼAmorī from_their_face/front who was_like_the_height _of cedars height _of_his and_is_strong he like_oaks and_I _destroyed fruit _of_his (from)_above and_his _of_roots (from)_beneath.
10 And_I I _brought _up you(pl) from_the _land _of Miʦrayim/(Egypt) and_I _led you(pl) in_wilderness forty year[s] to_take _possession _of DOM the _land _of the_ʼAmorī.
11 And_I _raised _up some_of_your(pl)_sons to_prophets and_some_of_your _young _men to_Nāzīr also not is_this Oh _people _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) the _utterance _of YHWH.
12 And_you(pl)_made _drink DOM the_Nāzīr wine and_to the_prophets you(pl)_commanded to_say not you(pl)_must _prophesy.
13 Here I am_about _to _make _totter under_you(pl) just_as it _totters the_cart (the)_full to/for_her/it cut _grain.
14 And_ a _place _of _escape _it _will _be _lost from_a _swift_person and_a _strong_person not he _will _make _firm power _of_his and_a _mighty_person not he _will _save life _of_his.
