1Adam, Shet (Seth), Enosh, 2Kenan, Mahalalel, Yared (Jared), 3Hanok (Enoch), Metushelah (Methuselah), Lamek, 4Noah, Shem, Ham, and Yafet (Japeth).

5Yafet’s sons were Gomer, Magog, Maday, Yavan, Tuval, Meshek, and Tiras. 6Gomer’s sons were Ashkenaz, Rifat, and Togarmah. 7Javan’s sons were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.

8Ham’s sons were Kush, Mitsrayim, Put, and Kanaan. 9Kush’s sons were Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raamah, and Savteka. Raamah’s sons were Sheva and Dedan. 10Then Kush fathered Nimrod and he became a mighty warrior. 11Mitsrayim was the ancestor of the Lud, the Anam, the Lehab, the Naftuh, 12the Patrus, the Kasluh, and the Kaftor people groups. (The Philistines descended from the Kasluh people group.) 13Kanaan’s first son was Tsidon, and then he was also the ancestor of the Hittites, 14the Yebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 15the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 16the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamatites.

17Shem’s sons were Elam, Ashur, Arpakshad, Lud, and Aram. Aram’s sons were: Uts, Hul, Geter, and Meshek. 18Arpakshad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber. 19Eber had two sons: Peleg (which sounds like the Hebrew word for ‘divided’ because in his lifetime, the earth was divided)[ref] and Yoktan. 20Yoktan was the ancestor of: Almodad, Shelef, Hatsarmavet, Yerah, 21Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 22Eybal, Abimael, Sheva, 23Ofir, Havilah, and Yovav. All those were the descendants of Yoktan.

24These were the descendants of Shem (in order from him to Abraham): Arpakshad, Shelah, 25Eber, Peleg, Reu, 26Serug, Nahor, Terah, 27and Abram (whose name God later changed to Abraham).

28Abraham’s sons were Yitshak (Isaac) and Yishmael (Ishmael). 29These were their family lines: The firstborn son of Yishmael (the son of Abraham’s slave wife Hagar) was Nevayot, then his other sons Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 30Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema, 31Yetur, Nafish, and Kedemah. Those were Yishmael’s twelve sons. 32The sons of Abraham’s slave wife Keturah were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midyan, Yishbak, and Shuah. Yokshan’s sons were Sheva and Dedan. 33Midyan’s sons were Efah, Efer, Hanok, Abida, and Eldaah. All those were Keturah’s descendants.

34Abraham had his son Yitshak by his wife Sarah, and Yitshak’s sons: were Esau and Yakov, whose name God later changed to Yisrael (Israel).

38Seir was another descendant of Esau and his sons were Lotan, Shoval, Tsiveon, Anah, Dishon, Etser, and Dishan. 39Lotan’s sons were Hori and Homam, and Lotan’s sister was Timna. 40Shoval’s sons were Alyan, Manahat, Eyval, Shefo, and Onam. Tsiveon’s sons were Ayyah and Anah. 41Anah’s son was Dishon. Dishon’s sons were Hamran, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran. 42Etser’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Yaakan. Dishan’s sons were Uts and Aran.

38and_the_sons of_Sēˊīr were_Lōţān and_Shōⱱāl and_Tsiⱱˊōn/(Zibeon) and_ˊAnāh and_Diyshōn and_ʼEʦer and_Diyshān.
39And_the_sons of_Lōţān were_Ḩorī and_Hōmām and_sister_of Lōţān Timnāˊ.
40the_sons_of Shōⱱāl were_ˊAlvān and_Mānaḩat and_ˊĒyⱱāl Shə and_ʼŌnām and_the_sons of_Tsiⱱˊōn were_ʼAyyāh and_ˊAnāh.
41The_sons_of ˊAnāh were_Diyshōn and_the_sons of_Diyshōn were_Ḩamrān and_ʼEshshəbān and_Yitrān/(Ithran) and_Kərān/(Cheran).
42the_sons_of ʼEʦer were_Bilhān and_Zaˊₐvān Yaˊₐqān/(Jaakan) the_sons_of Diyshōn were_ˊŪʦ and_ʼArān.

43These are the kings who ruled the region of Edom (where Seir’s descendants lived) before any kings ruled over Israel: Bela son of Beor, and his city’s name was Dinhavah. 44When Bela died, Zerah’s son Yovav from Batsrah city replaced him as king. 45When Yovav died, Husham replaced him as king. He was from the region where the Teman people group lived. 46When Husham died, Bedad’s son Hadad replaced him as king. His city’s name was Avit. Hadad defeated the Midyan people group in the Moab region. 47When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah city replaced him as king. 48When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehovot-on-the-river replaced him as king. 49When Shaul died, Akbor’s son Baal-Hanan replaced him as king. 50When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad replaced him as king. His city’s name was Pa’u. His wife’s name was Meheytavel—she was the daughter of Matred and the granddaughter of Me-Zahab.

51Then Hadad[ref] died.

The leaders of the Edom people group were Chiefs Timna, Alvah, Yetet, 52Aholivamah, Elah, Pinon, 53Kenaz, Teman, Mivtsar, 54Magdiel, and Iram. Those were the chiefs of Edom.
