3:1 Qualities of assembly overseers

3This is a trustworthy saying: ‘If anyone is aspiring to be an overseer, then it’s a good task that he’s desiring.’ 2So it’s fitting that an overseer be above reproach,[ref] be the husband of one wife, sober, sensible, respectable, hospitable, a good teacher, 3not dependent on alcohol or greedy or a bully, but rather gentle, peace-loving, 4a good, dignified leader in his own home and in disciplining his children. 5(If someone doesn’t know how to lead his own household, how could he take care of God’s assembly.) 6He mustn’t be a new believer because that might lead him to becoming proud and from there to fall into the devil’s judgement. 7It’s also fitting for him to have a good reputation with those outside the assembly so that he doesn’t end up getting mocked and from there falling into the devil’s trap.

3The saying is trustworthy:
If anyone is_aspiring to_overseeing, he_is_desiring of_a_good work.
2Therefore it_is_fitting the overseer to_be irreproachable, the_husband of_one wife, sober, sensible, respectable, hospitable, teaching, 3not winebibbing, nor a_bully, but gentle, peaceable, ungreedy, 4leading of_his own house well, having children in submission, with all dignity 5(but if someone has_ not _known to_lead of_his own house, how will_he_be_taking_care of_the_assembly of_god?
)
6Not a_neophyte, in_order_that not having_been_conceited, he_may_fall_in into the_judgment of_the devil.
7And it_is_fitting him also, to_be_having a_ good _testimony from the ones outside, in_order_that he_may_ not _fall_in into derision and the_snare of_the devil.

3:8 Qualities of assembly helpers (or deacons/ministers)

8Similarly helpers in the assembly should also be dignified, should only speak the truth, shouldn’t be greedy or addicted to wine 9and should cling to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 10Once they’ve proven themselves to be without any misconduct, them let them be working in the assembly. 11Their wives too should be dignified, should only speak the truth, and should be sober and faithful in everything they do. 12These helpers in the assembly should be husbands of one wife, and should lead their children and their households well. 13Those helpers who serve well will earn a good reputation for themselves and increase in confidence in their faith in Yeshua the messiah.

8Servants likewise should_be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to_ much _wine, not greedy, 9holding the mystery of_the faith in a_ clean _conscience.
10And also let_ these _be_being_approved first, thereafter let_them_be_serving, being unindictable.
11/Their/_wives likewise should_be dignified, not diabolical, sober, faithful in all things.
12Servants, let_ them _be husbands of_one wife, leading of_^their_children well and of_their own households.
13For/Because the ones having_served well are_procuring a_ good _standing for_themselves, and great confidence in the_faith which in chosen_one/messiah Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa).

3:14 The announcement of God of truth

14I am writing all this to you in the hope that I can come soon, 15but if I get delayed, at least you’ll know how to organise God’s household—that is the assembly of the living God—which is the pillar and foundation of the truth. 16But yes, this godliness is quite a mystery: he appeared in a body, was declared innocent by the spirit, was seen by messengers, was preached among the nations, was believed in around the world, and then was taken up to heaven to be honoured.

14I_am_writing these things to_you, hoping to_come to you in quickness, 15but if I_may_be_slowing, in_order_that you_may_have_known how it_is_fitting to_be_being_conducted in the_household of_god, which is the_assembly of_god the_living, the_pillar and foundation of_the truth.
16And confessedly great is the of_ the _devoutness mystery:
Who was_revealed in the_flesh, was_justified in the_spirit, was_seen by_messengers, was_proclaimed among the_nations, was_believed in the_world, was_taken_up in glory.
