1 This letter is from Paulos, a missionary of Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) the messiah, appointed by our saviour god’s command and by Yeshua the messiah, who is our hope. 2 I’m writing to Timotheos,[ref] my true child in the faith: may you receive grace, mercy, and peace from God the father and from our master Yeshua the messiah.

1:2: Acts 16:1-3.

1:3 Staying on-track in faith and doctrine

3 When I was going to Makedonia, I urged you to remain there in Efesos, so that you could speak against those preaching a different message, 4 and advise the believers not to worry about myths and endless genealogies, which just result in useless speculations, rather than them using their faith to advance God’s plans. 5 The outcome of such teaching should be demonstrating love coming from a pure heart, a clean conscience, and selfless faith. 6 Some others have deviated from that, which then results in useless talk—7 they want to be religious teachers but they don’t understand what they’re talking about or what they’re agreeing to.

8 But we know that the religious law can be good if someone is using it lawfully, 9 but other than that, we know that the law isn’t made for those who’ve been forgiven by God. The law was made for those who are disobedient and out of control, those who ignore and disobey God, who don’t honour him but rather profane him, for those who would murder their parents or other people, 10 the sexually immoral, homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, those who falsely accuse others in court, and those doing anything else that is against the sound teaching 11 that’s part of the good message that honours the wonderful God, and which was entrusted to me.

3 As I _implored you to _remain in Efesos, going to Makedonia, in _order _that you _may _command to _some not to _be _teaching _differently,

4 nor to _be _giving _heed to _myths and endless genealogies, which are _bringing _about speculations rather than management of_god, which is in faith.

5 And the outcome of _our charge is love out _of a_pure heart, and a_ good _conscience, and an_ unhypocritical _faith,

6 from _which some having _deviated, were _turned _away to useless _talk,

7 wanting to _be law _teachers, not understanding neither what they _are _saying, nor about what _all they _are _confirming.

8 But we _have _known that the law is good, if someone may _be _resorting to _it lawfully,

9 having _known this, that for_the_righteous the_law is_ not _appointing, but for_the_lawless and insubordinate, the_ungodly and the_sinners, unholy and profane, father _killers and mother _killers, murderers,

10 the_sexually _immoral, sodomisers, kidnappers, liars, perjurers, and if any other thing is _opposing to _the being _sound teaching,

11 according _to the good _message of _the glory of _the blessed god, which I was _entrusted.

1:12 Paulos thanks God for showing mercy

12 I’m thankful for our master Yeshua (Jesus; Grk. Yesus) the messiah, for considering me faithful and strengthening me, and then appointing me to serve him, 13 even though I used to be a slanderer and persecutor and abuser,[ref] but I was shown mercy because I did it in unbelief due to my ignorance. 14 The grace of our master was so generous in giving me faith in and love for Yeshua the messiah. 15 This saying is trustworthy and worth being accepted by everyone: Yeshua the messiah came into this world to save sinners, of which I was the worst. 16 And this is why I was shown mercy: so that Yeshua the messiah can demonstrate his great patience in me first, as a pattern to all the others who will believe in him and obtain eternal life. 17 May the king of the ages, the indestructible, invisible, only God have all the honour and praise throughout all the ages. May it be so.

18 In line with previous prophecies, I’m entrusting you, young Timotheos, with this: fight in this battle for good, 19 maintaining your faith and your clear conscience, even though others have turned back and shipwrecked their faith, 20 including Humenaios and Alexandros (Alexander), who I put Satan in charge of, so that they’d be disciplined to stop slandering.

12 I _am _having thankfulness for _the one having _strengthened me, chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) the master of _us, because he _considered me faithful, having _appointed me to service,

13 the earlier being a_slanderous, and a_persecutor, and an_abuser, but I _was _shown _mercy, because not _knowing, I _did it in unbelief.

14 And the grace of _the master of _us, over _been _plentiful with faith and love which in chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous.

15 Trustworthy is the saying, and worthy of _all acceptance:
that chosen _one /messiah Yaʸsous came into the world to _save sinners, of _whom I am the_first.

16 But because _of this I _was _shown _mercy, in _order _that in me first Yaʸsous chosen _one /messiah may _display his all patience, because/for a_pattern of _the ones going to _be _believing in him, to life eternal.

17 And to _the king of _the ages, the_indestructible, invisible, only god, honour and glory be, to the ages of _the ages.
Truly.

18 This the charge I _am _entrusting to _you, child, Timotheos, according _to the prophesies going _before to you, that you _may _be _warring by them the good warfare,

19 holding faith and a_good conscience, which some having _pushed _away, concerning their faith they _suffered _shipwreck,

20 of _whom is Humenaios and Alexandros, whom I _gave _over to_ the _Satan/(Sāţān), in _order _that they _may _be _disciplined not to _be _slandering.
