Psalm 136

 Praise Yahweh.

Praise the name of Yahweh.

Praise him, you servants of Yahweh,

2 you who stand in the house of Yahweh,

in the courtyards of the house of our God.

3 Praise Yahweh, for Yahweh is good;

sing praises to his name, for it is pleasant.

4 For Yahweh has chosen Jacob for himself,

Israel as his possession.

5 For I myself know that Yahweh is great,

and our Lord is greater than all other gods.

6 All that Yahweh desires, he does

in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all the ocean depths.

7 Causing the clouds to rise from the end of the earth,

he makes lightning accompany the rain

and bringing the wind out of his storehouse.

8 He struck the firstborn of Egypt,

from man to beast.

9 He sent signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt,

against Pharaoh and all his servants.

10 He struck many nations

and killed mighty kings,

11 Sihon king of the Amorites

and Og king of Bashan

and all the kingdoms of Canaan.

12 And he gave their land as an inheritance,

an inheritance to Israel his people.

13 Your name, Yahweh, endures forever;

your renown, Yahweh, endures from generation to generation.

14 For Yahweh judges his people,

and he shows compassion on his servants.

15 The nations’ idols are silver and gold,

the work of men’s hands.

16 Those idols have mouths, but they do not speak;

they have eyes, but they do not see;

17 they have ears, but they do not hear,

nor is there breath in their mouths.

18 Those who make them are like them,

as is everyone who trusts in them.

19 House of Israel, bless Yahweh;

house of Aaron, bless Yahweh.

20 House of Levi, bless Yahweh;

you who fear Yahweh, bless Yahweh.

21 Blessed be Yahweh in Zion,

he who lives in Jerusalem.

Praise Yahweh.

 Oh, give thanks to Yahweh; for he is good,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

2 Oh, give thanks to the God of gods,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

3 Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

4 To him who alone does great wonders,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

5 to him who by wisdom made the heavens,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

6 To him who spread out the earth above the waters,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

7 to him who made great lights,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

8 the sun to rule by day,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

9 the moon and stars to rule by night,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

10 to him who struck Egypt in their firstborn,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

11 and brought out Israel from among them,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

12 with a strong hand and a raised arm,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

13 to him who divided the Sea of Reeds into parts,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

14 and made Israel to pass through the middle of it,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

15 and threw down Pharaoh and his army in the Sea of Reeds,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

16 to him who led his people through the wilderness,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

17 to him who struck down great kings,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

18 to him who killed powerful kings,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

19 Sihon king of the Amorites,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

20 and Og king of Bashan,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

21 to him who gave their land as an inheritance,

23 who remembered us in our low estate,

24 and he rescued us from our adversaries,

25 giving bread to all flesh,

26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven,
