The Book of Psalms 106

Psalm

106 Praise Yah!

Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good,

for his covenant faithfulness is to forever.

2 Who can utter the mighty acts of Yahweh,

proclaim all of his praise?

3 The happiness of the guardians of justice,

the doers of righteousness at all times!

4 Remember me, Yahweh, in the favor of your people;

visit me in your salvation,

5 to look on the good of your chosen,

to rejoice in the gladness of your nation,

to boast with your inheritance.

6 We have sinned like our fathers;

we have done wrong; we have done evil.

7 Our fathers did not consider your marvelous deeds in Egypt;

they did not remember the abundance of your covenant faithfulness,

and they rebelled at the sea, the Sea of Reeds.

8 But he saved them on account of his name,

to make known his power.

9 He rebuked the Sea of Reeds, and it dried up.

Then he led them through the depths, as through a desert.

10 So he saved them from the hand of the hater,

and he rescued them from the hand of the enemy.

11 Then the waters covered their adversaries;

one of them was not left.

12 Then they believed his words;

they sang his praise.

13 But they hurried, they forgot his deeds;

they did not wait for his instructions.

14 And they craved a craving in the wilderness,

and they tested God in the wasteland.

15 So he gave to them their request,

but he sent a wasting disease upon their lives.

16 And they became envious of Moses in the camp,

of Aaron, the holy one of Yahweh.

17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan

and covered over the congregation of Abiram.

18 Fire blazed up in their congregation;

a flame burned up the wicked.

19 They made a calf at Horeb

and worshiped a cast image.

20 Thus they traded their Glory

for the likeness of a bull eating grass.

21 They forgot God their Savior,

the doer of great deeds in Egypt:

22 wonders in the land of Ham,

awesome acts at the Sea of Reeds.

23 So he said to annihilate them—

had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach to his face,

to turn away his heat from destroying.

24 Then they despised the delightful land;

they did not believe his word,

25 but grumbled in their tents;

they did not listen to the voice of Yahweh.

26 Then he raised his hand to them

to make them fall in the desert,

27 and to make their seed fall among the nations,

and to scatter them among the lands.

28 They joined themselves to the Baal of Peor

and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 And they angered with their actions,

and a plague broke out among them.

30 Then Phinehas stood and intervened,

and the plague was restrained.

31 It was counted to him as righteousness

to generation and generation until forever.

32 And they angered at the waters of Meribah,

and it was bad for Moses on account of them.

33 For they rebelled against his spirit,

and he spoke rashly with his lips.

34 They did not destroy the peoples,

which Yahweh had said to them,

35 but they mingled with the nations

and learned their ways

36 and served their idols,

and they became a snare to them.

37 And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.

38 And they shed innocent blood,

the blood of their sons and their daughters,

whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,

and the land was desecrated by bloodshed.

39 And they became unclean by their deeds;

and they prostituted themselves by their actions.

40 So Yahweh's nose burned with his people,

and he despised his inheritance.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the nations,

and the haters of them ruled over them.

42 And their enemies oppressed them,

and they were humbled under their hand.

43 Many times he rescued them,

but they, they were rebellious in their counsel

and sank in their sin.

44 Yet he saw in the narrow to them,

when he was hearing their cry.

45 And he remembered his covenant with them

and relented because of the abundance of his covenant faithfulness.

46 He gave them for compassion to the face of all of their captors.

47 Save us, Yahweh, our God!

Gather us from the nations

to give thanks to the name of your holiness,

to glory in your praises.

48 May Yahweh, the God of Israel, be blessed

from everlasting and to everlasting,

and all the people say, “Amen.
