Psalm 72

Of Solomon.

God, give your judgments to the king

and your righteousness to the son of the king.

2 May he judge your people with righteousness

and your poor with justice.

3 May the mountains bring peace to the people,

and the hills, in righteousness.

4 May he judge the poor of the people;

may he save the sons of the needy,

and may he crush the oppressor.

5 May they fear you with the sun

and to the face of the moon, generation of generations.

6 May he come down like rain on mown grass,

like showers, a drenching of the earth.

7 May the righteous flourish in his days,

and abundance of peace until the moon, is not.

8 May he rule from sea to sea

and from the River to the ends of the earth.

9 May desert-dwellers kneel to his face,

and may his enemies lick the dust.

10 May the kings of Tarshish and the coastlands return tribute;

may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring near a gift.

11 And may all kings bow down to him;

may all nations serve him.

12 For may he deliver the needy crying out

and the poor when no helper, is to him.

13 May he have pity on the weak and the needy,

and may he save the lives of the needy.

14 May he redeem their life from oppression and from violence,

and may their blood be precious in his eyes.

15 May he live! And may one give to him from the gold of Sheba,

and may one pray for him continually;

may they bless him all of the day.

16 May there be an abundance of grain in the land;

on the head of the mountains may its fruit sway like Lebanon,

and may they flourish from the city like the grass of the earth.

17 May his name be forever;

may his name continue to the face of the sun.

And may they be blessed by him;

may all of the nations acclaim him.

18 Blessed, be Yahweh God, the God of Israel,

the one doing wonders, he alone.

19 And blessed, be the name of his glory forever,

and let all of the earth be filled, with his glory.
