Psalm 148

Psalm

 Praise Yahweh!

How good it is to sing praises to our God,

how pleasant and suitable is a song of praise.

2 Yahweh builds up Jerusalem,

he gathers the scattered people of Israel.

3 He heals the brokenhearted

and binds up their wounds.

4 He counts the number of the stars;

he gives names to all of them.

5 Great is our Lord and abounding in power,

his understanding is without measure.

6 Yahweh lifts up the oppressed,

he brings the wicked down to the ground.

7 Sing to Yahweh with thanksgiving,

sing praises to our God with a harp.

8 He is the one who covers the heavens with clouds;

he is the one who prepares rain for the earth;

he is the one who causes the mountains to sprout with grass.

9 He gives food to the animals

and to the children of the ravens when they call.

10 He does not delight in the strength of a horse,

he does not enjoy the strong legs of a man.

11 Yahweh enjoys those who fear him,

those who hope for his steadfast love.

12 Extol Yahweh, Jerusalem,

praise your God, Zion.

13 For he strengthens the bars of your gates,

he blesses your children in your midst.

14 He sets your borders with peace,

he satisfies you with the finest of wheat.

15 He sends out his word to the land,

his command runs with swiftness.

16 He makes the snow like wool,

he scatters the frost like ashes.

17 He sends out his hail like crumbs,

who can stand before his cold?

18 He sends out his command and melts them;

he makes his wind blow, and the waters flow.

19 He proclaimed his word to Jacob,

his statutes and his righteous decrees to Israel.

20 He has not done so with any other nation,

and as for his judgments, they do not know them.

 Praise Yahweh.

Praise Yahweh from the heavens;

praise him in the heights.

2 Praise him, all his angels;

praise him, all his hosts.

3 Praise him, sun and moon;

praise him, all you shining stars.

4 Praise him, highest heavens

and the waters that are above the heavens.

5 Let them praise the name of Yahweh,

for he commanded, and they were created.

6 He has established them forever and ever;

he given a decree and it will not pass away.

7 Praise Yahweh from the earth,

sea monsters and all ocean depths,

8 fire and hail, snow and clouds,

stormy winds doing his word.

9 The mountains and all the hills,

The fruit trees and all the cedars,

10 animals and all the beasts,

reptiles and winged birds.

11 kings of the earth and all the peoples,

princes and all judges of the earth,

12 Young men and also young women,

the elderly along with the children.

13 let them all praise the name of Yahweh,

for his name alone is exalted;

his glory extends over the earth and the heavens.

14 He has raised up the horn of his people

praise from all his faithful ones,

from the children of Israel, the people near to him.
