Psalm 143

143 

A psalm of David

Hear my prayer, Yahweh; listen to my pleas!

On account of your faithfulness answer me in your righteousness!

2 And do not enter into judgment with your servant,

for everyone living is not righteous to your face.

3 For the enemy has pursued my soul;

he has crushed my life to the ground;

he has made me to live in dark places

like the dead of ages.

4 So my spirit faints within me;

my heart despairs inside me.

5 I remember days from before;

I meditate on all your works;

I reflect on the works of your hands.

6 I spread out my hands to you;

my soul, as a thirsty land, to you. Selah

7 Hurry! Answer me, Yahweh; my spirit is expiring!

Do not hide your face from me,

or I will become equal with those going down to the pit.

8 Let me hear your covenant faithfulness in the morning,

for I trust in you.

Make known to me this way I should walk,

for I lift up my soul to you.

9 Rescue me from my enemies, Yahweh;

I hide in you.

10 Teach me to do your will,

for you, are my God.

May your good Spirit

lead me in a level land.

11 Yahweh, for the sake of your name, may you preserve my life;

in your righteousness may you bring my soul out of distress.

12 And in your covenant faithfulness may you destroy my enemies

and exterminate all the adversaries of my soul,

for I am your servant.
