Psalm

 Oh, give thanks to Yahweh; for he is good,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

2 Oh, give thanks to the God of gods,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

3 Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

4 To him who alone does great wonders,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

5 to him who by wisdom made the heavens,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

6 To him who spread out the earth above the waters,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

7 to him who made great lights,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

8 the sun to rule by day,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

9 the moon and stars to rule by night,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

10 to him who struck Egypt in their firstborn,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

11 and brought out Israel from among them,

12 with a strong hand and a raised arm,

13 to him who divided the Sea of Reeds into parts,

15 and threw down Pharaoh and his army in the Sea of Reeds,

16 to him who led his people through the wilderness,

17 to him who struck down great kings,

18 to him who killed powerful kings,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

19 Sihon king of the Amorites,

20 and Og king of Bashan,

21 to him who gave their land as an inheritance,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

22 an inheritance to Israel his servant,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

23 who remembered us in our low estate,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

24 and he rescued us from our adversaries,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever—

25 giving bread to all flesh,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven,

for his covenant faithfulness endures forever.

Psalm

 Beside the rivers of Babylon

there we sat and wept

when we remembered Zion.

2 On the poplars there

we hung our harps.

3 For there our captors demanded that we sing songs,

and those who relentlessly mocked us said,

“Sing to us from the songs of Zion.”

4 How could we sing a song about Yahweh

in a foreign land?

5 If I forget you, Jerusalem,

let my right hand forget

6 Let my tongue cling to my palate

if I do not remember you,

if I do not lift up Jerusalem

over my chief pleasure.

7 Remember, Yahweh, the sons of Edom,

on the day of Jerusalem,

saying, “Tear it down, tear it down

to its foundations.”

8 Daughter of Babylon, who will be destroyed—

blessed be the one who repays you

for what you have done to us.

9 Blessed be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones

against the rocks.
