OET (OET-RV) However for David’s sake, his god Yahweh gave Abiyyam a son to rule after him—to allow Yerushalem to continue on with a flicker of light

OET-LV If/because for _the _sake _of Dāvid YHWH he _gave his/its_god to_him/it a _lamp in_Yərūshālam/(Jerusalem) by_raising _up DOM his/its_son after_him and_by_establishing DOM Yərūshālam/(Jerusalem).

ULT But for the sake of David, Yahweh his God gave to him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up his son after him, and by making Jerusalem stand,

UST But Yahweh had promised to David that one of his descendants would always be king in Jerusalem. So Yahweh allowed Abijah’s son to become king after he died. Yahweh also did not allow any enemies to conquer Jerusalem.
