Luke 17

17And he said to {his}[fn] disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to {the one} through whom they come!

2“[[But]][fn] It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, rather than causing one of these little ones to stumble.

3“Be on your guard! If your brother sins [[against you]],[fn] rebuke him; and if he [[indeed]][fn] repents, forgive him.

4“And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns [to you][fn] seven times [[in a day]],[fn] saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

5The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6But {the Lord}[fn] said [to them],[fn] “If you had faith like a mustard seed, [[you would say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. And]][fn] you would say to {this}[fn] {mulberry}[fn] tree, ‘[Be uprooted and][fn] Be planted in the sea;’ and it would obey you.

7“But which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say [[to him]][fn] when he has come in from the field, ‘Come [immediately][fn] and sit down to eat’? 8But will he [not][fn] say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat, and, having girded yourself, serve me until I eat and drink; and afterward you will eat and drink’? 9Does he thank [{the}[fn] servant][fn] because he did what was commanded [[to him]]?[fn] [[I think not!]][fn] 10[So][fn] [You][fn] Also, when you {have done [all][fn] [[these things]][fn] what was commanded to you},[fn] {[you say][fn] [that][fn] ‘We are unworthy servants; [[because]][fn] we have done only what we were obligated to do.’ ”}[fn]

11And it happened that while [[he was]][fn] on the way to Jerusalem, he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12And as he entered into a certain village, {ten leprous men met}[fn] [him],[fn] [who stood][fn] at a distance; 13and they {raised their voices, saying,}[fn] “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”

14And seeing [[them]],[fn] he said to them, “[[Be healed,]][fn] Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And it happened that as they went, they were cleansed.

15And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16and fell down [on his face][fn] at his feet [, giving thanks to him];[fn] and he was a Samaritan.

17And Jesus answered [[to them]],[fn] “{Were not the ten cleansed?}[fn] [But][fn] Where are the nine? 18{Were there none found who returned}[fn] to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19And he said to him, “Rise and go.” [[For]][fn] [Your faith has saved you.][fn]

20And when asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom [of God][fn] would come, he answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation, 21nor will they say, ‘Look, here!’ Or, [[‘Look’]][fn] ‘There!’ [[Do not believe it]][fn] for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”[fn]

22He [[therefore]][fn] said to {the}[fn] disciples, “Days will come when you will desire [to see][fn] one of {the}[fn] days of the Son of Man,[fn] and you will not see it. 23And they will say to you, ‘Look, there! [Or,][fn] Look, here!’ Do not go away[fn], nor pursue.

24“For just as the lightning flashes from [under][fn] heaven [to what is under heaven],[fn] so [[also]][fn] will {the Son of Man}[fn] [be in his day].[fn]

25“But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

26“And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man. 27They were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood {came},[fn] and {destroyed}[fn] them all.

28“Likewise [as][fn] it happened in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, buying, selling, planting, building; 29[but][fn] the same day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven, and destroyed everyone. 30It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

31“On that day, whoever is on the roof and their belongings in {the}[fn] house, let him not go down to take them, and likewise, the one in the field should not turn [to what is][fn] behind.

32“Remember Lot's wife. 33{Whoever seeks [to preserve][fn] his life will lose it},[fn] {but}[fn] whoever loses it will {give it life}.[fn]

34“I say to you, in that night there shall be two in [one][fn] bed; [the][fn] one will be taken, and the other will be left. 35[There will be two in the same place, [the][fn] one will be taken, the other will be left.][fn] 36[[Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.]]”[fn]

37And they responded, saying [to him],[fn] “Where, Lord?” And he said [to them],[fn] “{Where}[fn] the body is, [also][fn] the eagles[fn] will {be gathered together}.”[fn]
