5 and_ Ḩaggay _he _prophesied the_prophet[fn] and_Zəkar^yāh the _son _of ˊIddō the_prophets[fn] to the_Yəhūdī who were_in_Yəhūdāh/(Judah) and_in_Yərūshelēm/(Jerusalem) in_the _name _of the _god _of Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) who_was_over _them.

3 at_it the_time he _came to_them Tattənay the _governor _of the _region _beyond the_river Shətar- bōzənay and_associates _of_their and_thus/so/as _follows they_were_saying to_them who did _he _make for_you(pl) a _decree the_house this to_build and_the_structure this to_finish.

4 then as _follows we _said to_them what are_they the _names _of the _men who this the_building are_building.

5 And_the _eye _of their _god it _was on the _elders _of the _Yəhūdī/(Jews) and_not they _made _cease them until the_report to_Dārəyāvesh it _will _go and_then they _will _send _back the_letter concerning this.

6 (the)_copy _of the _letter which he _sent Tattənay the _governor _of the _region _beyond the_river Shətar- bōzənay and_associates _of_his the_officials who were_in_the _region _beyond the_river to Dārəyāvesh Oh/the_king.

7 The_message they _sent to_him and_according_to _this it _was _written in_midst _of_its to_Dārəyāvesh Oh/the_king the_peace (the)_all.

8 known let _it _be to_the_king that we _went to_Judea the_province to_the _house _of the_god (the)_great and_he is_being _built stone _of rolling and_timber is_being _set in_the_walls and_the_work this diligently is_being _done and_is_prospering in_hand _of_their.

9 then we _asked to_the_elders these as _follows we _said to_them[fn][fn] who did _he _make for_you(pl) a _decree the_house this to_build and_the_structure this to_finish.

10 And_also names _of_their we _asked to_them[fn][fn] to_make_known _to _you that we _will _write the _name _of the _men who are_at_heads _of_their.

11 and_as _follows the_message they_sent _back _to _us to_say we they are_his _of_servants of the _god _of the_heavens and_the_earth and_we _are_building the_house which it _was built from_the _former _time _of this years many and_a _king of_Yisrā^ʼēl/(Israel) great he_built _it and_he_finished _it.

12 But from that they _enraged fathers _of_our to_god the_heavens he _gave them in_the _hand _of Nəⱱūkadneʦʦar the _king _of Bāⱱel the_Chaldean[fn] and_the_house this he_destroyed _it and_the_people he _took _into _exile to_Bāⱱel.

13 nevertheless in_year one to/for_Kōresh/(Coresh/Cyrus) Oh/the_king of Bāⱱel Kōresh/(Cyrus/Kōresh) Oh/the_king he _made a _decree the _house _of the_god this to_build.

14 And_also the_vessels of the _house _of the_god of (the)_gold and_(the)_silver which Nəⱱūkadneʦʦar he _had _brought _out from the_temple which was_in_Yərūshelēm/(Jerusalem) and_he _carried them to_the_temple of Bāⱱel he _brought _out them Kōresh Oh/the_king from the_temple of Bāⱱel and_they _were _given to_Sheshbazzar his/its_name whom governor he_had _made _him.

15 And_he/it _said to_him/it these[fn] the_vessels take go deposit them in_the_temple which is_in_Yərūshelēm/(Jerusalem) and_the _house _of the_god let _it _be _built on place _of_its.

16 then Sheshbazzar this he _came he _laid the_foundations of the _house _of the_god which is_in_Yərūshelēm/(Jerusalem) and_from then and_unto now it_is_being _built and_not it_is_finished.

17 And_now if to Oh/the_king it_is_good let _it _be _searched in_house _of the _treasures of Oh/the_king there which are_in_Bāⱱel whether there is_that from Kōresh Oh/the_king it _was _made a _decree to_build the _house _of the_god this in_Yərūshelēm/(Jerusalem) and_the _will _of Oh/the_king concerning this let _him _send to_us.
