16 A song of David Protect me, God, for I take refuge in you.
2 You say to Yahweh, “You are my Lord; my goodness is nothing apart from you.
3 As for the holy ones who are in the land, they are noble people; all my delight is in them.
4 Their troubles will increase, those who seek out other gods. I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood
or lift up their names with my lips.
5 Yahweh is the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You hold onto my lot.
6 Measuring lines have been laid for me in pleasant places; surely a pleasing inheritance is mine.
7 I will bless Yahweh, who counsels me; even at night my mind instructs me.
8 I set Yahweh before me continually, for he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart rejoices, and my glory is joyful. Surely my flesh will dwell in security.
10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol. You will not let your faithful one see the pit.
11 You teach me the path of life; abundant joy is in your face; pleasures are at your right hand forever!”
