ULT PSA Chapter 31

31 To the chief musician; psalm David.

1 In you, Yahweh, I take refuge;

do not ever let me have shame;

in your righteousness deliver me.

2 Incline your ear to me; rescue me quickly;

be for me a rocky summit of refuge,

a dwelling place of strongholds to save me.

3 Indeed, you are my rock and my stronghold;

therefore for the sake of your name you lead me and guide me.

4 You will pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,

for you are my refuge.

5 Into your hand I commit my spirit;

you have redeemed me, Yahweh, God of faithfulness.

6 I hate the ones keeping idols of worthlessness,

but I trust in Yahweh.

7 I will be glad and rejoice in your covenant faithfulness,

for you have seen my affliction;

you have known the troubles of my soul,

8 and you have not delivered me into the hand of the ones being hostile to me;

you have set my feet in an open space.

9 Be gracious to me, Yahweh, for I am in distress;

my eye has wasted away from grief, my soul and my body.

10 For my life has come to an end with sorrow,

and my years with groaning;

my strength fails from my iniquity,

and my bones waste away.

11 Among all of the ones being hostile to me I have become a reproach,

and especially to my neighbors,

and dread to the ones knowing me;

the ones seeing me outside flee from me.

12 I have been forgotten like a dead man out of mind;

I am like a broken vessel.

13 For I hear the whispering of many—

terror on every side!—

while they conspire together against me;

they plan to take my life.

14 But I trust in you, Yahweh;

I say, “You are my God.”

15 My times are in your hand;

rescue me from the hand of the ones being hostile to me and from the ones pursuing me.

16 Make your face shine upon your servant;

save me in your covenant faithfulness.

17 Yahweh, do not let me have shame, for I have called upon you;

let the wicked have shame; let them be silent in Sheol.

18 Let lying lips be silenced,

the ones speaking insolent things against the righteous,

in pride and contempt.

19 How great is your goodness

which you have stored up for the ones fearing you,

which you have done for the ones taking refuge in you,

before the sons of man!

20 You hide them in the hiding-place of your presence from the plots of man;

you hide them in a shelter from the strife of tongues.

21 Blessed be Yahweh,

for he has shown marvelously his covenant faithfulness to me in a besieged city.

22 For I said in my alarm,

“I am cut off from your eyes.”

But indeed you heard the voice of my pleas when I cried out to you.

23 Love Yahweh, all, you faithful ones!

Yahweh preserves the faithful,

but he pays back fully the proud person.

24 Be firm and let your heart be courageous,

all the ones waiting for Yahweh.
