76 For the chief musician; stringed instruments. psalm of song.

1 In Judah God is known;

in Israel his name is great.

2 And his abode is in Salem,

and his dwelling place is in Zion.

3 There he broke the flames of the bow,

the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah


4 You are shining, majestic,

from the mountains of prey.

5 The stout of heart were plundered;

they slept their sleep,

and all of the men of strength found not their hands.

6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob,

both rider and horse fell deeply asleep.


7 You, you are to be feared,

and who can stand before your face from the time of your nose?

8 From heaven you caused judgment to be heard;

the earth feared and was quiet

9 when God arose to judgment,

to save all the humble of the earth. Selah


10 For the wrath of man will thank you;

the remainder of wrath you will gird on.

11 Vow and pay to Yahweh your God;

let all who are around him bring a gift to the Fear.

12 He cuts off the spirit of princes;

he is to be feared by the kings of the earth.
