A musical composition of David, which he sang to Yahweh concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite.
7 Yahweh my God, in you I have taken refuge;
save me from all my pursuers, and rescue me!
2 Lest he rip my life apart like a lion,
tearing apart, and there is no one to rescue.
3 Yahweh my God, if I have done this,
if there is wrong on my hands,
4 if I have repaid evil to one who was at peace with me,
or senselessly rescued my adversary,
5 let my enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,
and let him trample my life to the ground
and cause my honor to live in the dust. Selah
s-e *
6 Arise, Yahweh!
In your nose, be lifted with the rage of my adversaries!
And wake up for me!
You have ordered judgment.
7 And an assembly of peoples surround you,
and over it return on high!
8 Yahweh, adjudicate the peoples!
Judge me, Yahweh,
according to my righteousness and according to my integrity, Most High!
9 May the evil of wicked ones end, and would you establish righteous ones.
The righteous God examines hearts and kidneys.
10 My shield is with God,
the savior of the upright of heart.
11 God is a righteous judge,
and a God who is indignant on every day.
12 If he does not repent, his sword he will sharpen,
his bow he has bent and prepared.
13 and for him he has prepared implements of death,
he has made his arrows into burning arrows.
14 Behold he is pregnant with wickedness,
and he conceives trouble,
and he births lies.
15 He digs a pit and hollows it out
and falls into the hole he has made.
16 His trouble returns on his head,
and his violence comes down on the top of his head.
17 I will thank Yahweh according to his righteousness,
and sing praise to the name of Yahweh, the Most High.
