ULT PSA Chapter 79

A psalm. Of Asaph.

God, nations have come into your inheritance;

they have defiled the temple of your holiness;

they have made Jerusalem into heaps.

2 They have given the corpse of your servants, as food to the bird of the heavens,

the flesh of your faithful to the beast of the earth.

3 They have poured out their blood like water around Jerusalem,

and there is no burying.

4 We have become a reproach to our neighbors,

scorn and derision to the ones around us.

5 Until when, Yahweh? Will you be angry forever?

Will your jealousy burn like fire?

6 Pour out your wrath on the nations that have not known you

and on the kingdoms that have not called on your name.

7 For one has devoured Jacob,

and they have desolated his habitation.

8 Do not remember former iniquities against us;

hasten, let your compassions meet us,

for we have become very weak.

9 Help us, God of our salvation, on account of the glory of your name, and deliver us

and cover over our sins for the sake of your name.

10 Why should the nations say, “Where, is their God?”

Let the vengeance of the poured-out blood of your servants

be known among the nations to our eyes.

11 Let the groaning of the prisoner come to your face;

according to the greatness of your arm, preserve the sons of death.

12 And return to our neighbors sevenfold, into their bosom,

their reproach, with which they have reproached you, Lord.

13 And we, your people and the flock of your pasture,

will give thanks to you forever;

to generation and generation we will recount your praise.
