AICNT MAT Chapter 7

MAT 7 ©

7“Do not judge, so that you may not be judged; 2for with the judgment you judge, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be {measured}[fn] to you.

3“Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? 4Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye,’ while the log[fn] is in your own eye? 5Hypocrite, first remove the log from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

6“Do not give what is holy to dogs, nor throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you.

7“Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you; 8for everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it {will be}[fn] opened.

9“Or which one of you men, [[if]][fn] whom his son will ask for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or [[if]][fn] even he will ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?

11“If you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in the heavens give good things to those who ask him.

12Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

13“Enter through the narrow gate; for wide [is the gate][fn] and spacious is the road that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter through it; 14{how}[fn] narrow is the gate and constricted is the road that leads to life, and few are those who find it.

15“Beware [then][fn] of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16By their fruits you will recognize them. Do people gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?

17“So every good tree produces good fruits, but the rotten[fn] tree produces evil fruits. 18A good tree cannot produce evil fruits, nor can a rotten tree produce good fruits. 19Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Therefore, by their fruits you will recognize them.

21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in {the heavens}.[fn] 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons, and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23And then I will confess to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.’

24“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and does them {will be like}[fn] a wise man who built his house on the rock; 25and the rain came down, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26“And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand; 27and the rain came down, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and struck against that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.”

28And it happened when Jesus {finished}[fn] these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching; 29for he was teaching them as one having authority and not as {their}[fn] scribes.
