AICNT MAT Chapter 24

MAT 24 ©

24And Jesus went out from the temple and was going on his way, and his disciples came to show him the buildings of the temple.

2But he answering [[Jesus]] [fn] said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I tell you, not a stone will be left here upon a stone that will not be torn down.”

3And as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?”

4And Jesus answered and said to them, “See that no one leads you astray. 5For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for it must happen, but the end is not yet.

7For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines [[and pestilences]][fn] and earthquakes in various places; 8but all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

9“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of my name. 10And then many will fall away and will betray one another and will hate one another; 11and many false prophets will arise and will lead many astray; 12and because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold. 13But the one who endures to the end, this one will be saved.

14“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15“So when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,[fn] standing in the holy place, let the reader understand, 16then let those who are in Judea flee {to}[fn] the mountains, 17the one on the roof should not go down to take anything out of his house, 18and the one in the field should not turn back to take his {cloak}.[fn] 19Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing infants in those days! 20Pray that your flight may not be in winter or {on}[fn] a Sabbath. 21For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, nor never will be. 22And if those days had not been cut short, no flesh would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

23“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There,’ do not believe it; 24for false christs and false prophets will rise and will give great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25Behold, I have told you beforehand. 26So if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27For as the lightning comes from the east and is seen even to the west, so [[also]][fn] will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

29“But immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.[fn]

30“And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with great power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a great trumpet [[sound]],[fn] and they will gather his elect[fn] from the four winds, from the ends of the heavens to their ends.

32“Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; 33so also you, when you see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors. 34Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

36“But concerning that day or hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven [nor the Son],[fn] but only {the}[fn] Father.

37“For just as the days of Noah were, so [[also]][fn] will be the presence of the Son of Man. 38For [[even]][fn] as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, 39and they did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so will be [also] the coming of the Son of Man.

40Then two will be in the field; one will be taken and {one will be left}.[fn] 41Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left. 42Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what {day}[fn] your Lord is coming.

43“But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44For this reason, you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

45“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom {the}[fn] master has put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46Blessed is that servant whom the master finds doing so when he comes. 47Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

48“But if that wicked servant says in his heart, ‘My master is {delayed},’[fn] 49and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with drunkards, 50the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, 51and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
