OET-LVAnd not as by one man having_sinned, the gift, the for on_one_hand judgement of one transgression, to condemnation, on_the_other_hand the the_gift of many transgressions, to just_act.OET logo mark

ULTAnd the gift, is not as through one who sinned. For indeed, the judgment from one, to condemnation, but the gracious gift from many trespasses, to justification.

USTYet, what God gives is not like what happened because the one man Adam sinned. This is true because, in fact, God judged everyone after the sinful thing that Adam did, which resulted in God condemning everyone. By contrast, what God kindly gave people after they rejected his commands many times resulted in God making them righteous.

BSBAgain, the gift [is] not like [the result of] the one [man’s] sin: The judgment [that followed] one [sin] [brought] condemnation, but the gift [that followed] many trespasses [brought] justification.

MSBAgain, the gift [is] not like [the result of] the one [man’s] sin: The judgment [that followed] one [sin] [brought] condemnation, but the gift [that followed] many trespasses [brought] justification.

BLBAnd the gift is not as through one having sinned. For truly the judgment from one was unto condemnation; but the gift is out of many trespasses unto justification.

AICNTAnd the gift is not like the result of one sin; for indeed the judgment from one sin led to condemnation, but the gift from many trespasses led to justification.

OEBThere is a contrast, too, between the gift and the results of the one man’s sin. The judgment, which followed on the one man’s sin, resulted in condemnation, but God’s gracious gift, which followed on many offences, resulted in a decree of righteousness.

WEBBE & WMBBThe gift is not as through one who sinned; for the judgement came by one to condemnation, but the free gift followed many trespasses to justification.

NETAnd the gift is not like the one who sinned. For judgment, resulting from the one transgression, led to condemnation, but the gracious gift from the many failures led to justification.

LSVand not as through one who sinned [is] the free gift, for the judgment indeed [is] of one to condemnation, but the gift [is] of many offenses to a declaration of “Righteous,”

FBVThe result of the gift is not like that of the sin. The result of Adam's sin was judgment and condemnation, but the gift sets us right with God, despite our many sins.

TCNTAnd the gift cannot be compared to the result of the one man's sin; for the judgment that arose from one trespass brought condemnation, but the gift that arose from many trespasses brought justification.

T4TAnd there is another way in which God’s freely erasing the record of our sins is not like the results of Adam’s sinning. One person, Adam, sinned. As a result, God declared that all people deserve to be punished. Many people sinned. But what God did was that he erased the record of their sins without their earning it.

LEBAnd the gift is not as through the one who sinned, for on the one hand, judgment from the one sin led to condemnation, but the gift, from many trespasses, led to justification.

BBEAnd the free giving has not the same effect as the sin of one: for the effect of one man's sin was punishment by the decision of God, but the free giving had power to give righteousness to wrongdoers in great number.

MoffNor is the free gift like the effect of the one man's sin; for while the sentence ensuing on a single sin resulted in doom, the free gift ensuing on many trespasses issues in acquittal.

WymthAnd it is not with the gift as it was with the results of one individual's sin; for the judgement which one individual provoked resulted in condemnation, whereas the free gift after a multitude of transgressions results in acquittal.

ASVAnd not as through one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment came of one unto condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.

DRAAnd not as it was by one sin, so also is the gift. For judgment indeed was by one unto condemnation; but grace is of many offences, unto justification.

YLTand not as through one who did sin [is] the free gift, for the judgment indeed [is] of one to condemnation, but the gift [is] of many offences to a declaration of 'Righteous,'

DrbyAnd [shall] not as by one that has sinned [be] the gift? For the judgment [was] of one to condemnation, but the act of favour, of many offences unto justification.

RVAnd not as through one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment came of one unto condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.
