¶  David would tell him, “In southern Yehudah,” or “South of the Yerahmeelites,” or “In the southern Kenite region”.

OET-LV And_ ʼAkīsh _he/it _said not did _you(pl)_make _a _raid the_day and_ Dāvid _he/it _said on the _Negeⱱ _of Yəhūdāh and_on the _Negeⱱ _of the _Jerahmeelite[s] and_near/to the _Negeⱱ _of the _Qēynī[s].

ULT And Achish said, “Have you not raided today?” And David said, “Against the Negeb of Judah” or “against the Negeb of the Jerahmeelite” or “against the Negeb of the Kenite.”

UST Each time Achish would ask David, “Where did you go raiding today?” David would lie to him and sometimes say that he and his men had attacked the people who lived in the Negeb within the territory of Judah. Other times, he would say that they had attacked the Jerahmeelites who lived in the Negeb. And at other times, he would say that they had attacked the Kenites who lived in the Negeb.

NET When Achish would ask, “Where did you raid today?” David would say, “The Negev of Judah” or “The Negev of Jeharmeel” or “The Negev of the Kenites.”
