TSNTyndale Study Notes:

Ps 27 This psalm mixes two genres—a psalm of confidence (27:1-6) and an individual lament (27:7-14)—held together by the theme of longing for the Lord’s presence. The psalmist focuses on the Lord; his circumstances are secondary. The strength of the psalmist’s faith is expressed in his openness to the Lord’s instruction, timing, and priorities.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

Do not give me up to the desires of my enemies

(Some words not found in UHB: not give_~_over,me in/on/at/with,desire adversaries,my that/for/because/then/when risen in/on/at/with,me witnesses false and,breathing_out violence/cruelty )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word desires, you could express the same idea with a verbal form. Alternate translation: “Do not let my enemies do to me what they desire”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

have risen up against me

(Some words not found in UHB: not give_~_over,me in/on/at/with,desire adversaries,my that/for/because/then/when risen in/on/at/with,me witnesses false and,breathing_out violence/cruelty )

“Risen up” here is an idiom meaning that a witness stood in court to present testimony. Alternate translation: “have stood up in order to speak against me”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

they breathe out violence

(Some words not found in UHB: not give_~_over,me in/on/at/with,desire adversaries,my that/for/because/then/when risen in/on/at/with,me witnesses false and,breathing_out violence/cruelty )

Here violence is spoken for as if it was something a person could breathe out. Alternate translation: “they say that they will do violent things to me”
