63.10 Et timuit omnis. AUG. Si timet homo, non terreat homo, quin annuntiet, sicut Apostoli, quibus comminaverunt principes sacerdotum, dicentes, ne prædicarent in nomine Jesu. Et facta ejus intellexerunt. Ibid. Cur passus? cur non descendit de cruce? quia moriendum erat et resurgendum: quod tunc non fuit intellectum.

Here “the sword” represents death in battle, and “those whose hands use the sword” refers to enemies who kill them in battle.
