ULTAnd Joshua said, “Alas, my Lord Yahweh! Why, bringing across, did you bring this people across the Jordan to give us into the hand of the Amorite, to make us perish? And if only we had been content and had stayed on the other side of the Jordan!

USTThen Joshua prayed and said, “Lord Yahweh, you brought us Israelites safely across the Jordan River. So I do not understand why you are now allowing the Amorites to destroy us. I really wish that we had stayed on the other side of the Jordan River! Then we would not be in this situation.

BrLXXΚαὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς, δέομαι Κύριε· ἱνατί διεβίβασεν ὁ παῖς σου τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον τὸν Ἰορδάνην παραδοῦναι αὐτὸν τῷ Ἀμοῤῥαίῳ, ἀπολέσαι ἡμᾶς; καὶ εἰ κατεμείναμεν καὶ κατῳκίσθημεν παρὰ τὸν Ἰορδάνην.

BrTrAnd Joshua said, I pray, Lord, wherefore has thy servant brought this people over Jordan to deliver them to the Amorite to destroy us? [fn]would we had remained and settled ourselves beyond Jordan.
