The first four trumpets

Rev 8:6–13

8:6 The first four trumpets

6Then the seven messengers who had the seven trumpets, got ready to blow them.

7Then the first messenger blew his trumpet and then hail and fire mixed together with blood was thrown down on the earth and third of the earth was burnt up along with a third of the trees, and all the green grass got burnt up.[ref]

8Then the second messenger blew his trumpet, and something was thrown into the ocean that was like a huge, burning mountains, and a third of the sea turned into blood. 9One third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

10Then the third messenger blew his trumpet and a huge star, burning like a torch, fell down from the sky and landed on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.[ref] 11That star is named ‘Bitterness’ and a third of those waters turned bitter. Many people died from the waters, because they became poisonous.[ref]

12Then the fourth messenger blew his trumpet and a third of the sun and the moon were struck and the sun didn’t shine for a third of the day, nor the moon for a third of the night. One third of the stars were struck and went dark.[ref]

13Then as I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying high in the sky, shouting loudly, “Three terrible things will happen to the people who’re living on the earth when the three remaining messengers blow their trumpets.”

Exo 9:23-25:

23So Mosheh lifted his staff to the sky, and Yahweh sent thunder and hail, and lightning caused fires on the land, and so Yahweh rained hail down onto Egypt. 24There was hail, and also fire coming down in the middle of the hail. It was very heavy, such as had never been in all of Egypt since it became a nation.[ref] 25The hail struck everything in Egypt—everything that was in the countryside, from people to animals. It also struck every plant and broke every tree out in the countryside.
