38 Then Yahweh gave me another message: 2 “Humanity’s child, look toward the land of Magog where King Gog is the main leader of Meshek and Tuval, and prophesy against him.[ref] 3 Tell him that the master Yahweh says this: Listen, I’m against you, Gog, leader of Meshek and Tuval, 4 so I’ll turn you around and put hooks into your jaws. Then I’ll bring you out with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all of them dressed in full armour—a huge group with large and small shields, all of them holding swords. 5 Persia, Ethiopia (Kush), and Libya are with them, all of them with shields and helmets, 6 as well as Gomer and all its troops, and Beyt-Togarmah, from the far parts of the north, and all its troops. Many people groups are with you. 7 Tell Gog to get ready as commander, and to assemble and prepare his troops. 8 You’ll be summoned many days later, then after some years you’ll go to a land that’s recovered from war and where the people have come back from many nations—gathered back to Yisrael’s mountains that had continuously been a ruin. But the land’s people will indeed be brought out of the nations, and they’ll all live there safely again. 9 Then you’ll go in like a storm with your large army—you’ll all be like a cloud covering the land.

10 The master Yahweh says this: But plans will start to form in your heart on that day and you’ll devise wicked schemes. 11 Then you’ll think, ‘I’ll take my army up onto the open ground—we’ll attack the people living quietly and peacefully—all of them living where there are no walls or barriers, and no city gates. 12 I’ll capture booty and steal plunder and use my forces against those ruins that have been newly inhabited, and against those people who’ve returned from the nations—people who are gaining livestock and property, and who are living at the centre of the world.’ 13 People from Sheva and Dedan, and traders from Tarshish and its villages will ask you, ‘Have you come to plunder? Have you assembled your armies to take away spoil, to carry off gold and silver, to take their livestock and property and to haul away plenty of plunder?’

14 Therefore, humanity’s child, prophesy and tell Gog that the master Yahweh says this: On that day, when my people Yisrael are living securely—but you won’t take notice of that— 15 you’ll come from your place far away in the north with a large army—all of them riding on horses, yes, a very numerous force. 16 Then you’ll attack my Israeli people like a cloud that covers the land. I’ll send you against my land near the end of the era, so that the nations might know me when I show myself through you, Gog—they’ll see with their own eyes that I always demand what’s right. 17 The master Yahweh says this: Aren’t you the one that I spoke about in the past through my servants, the Israeli prophets who prophesied for years in their own times, that I would bring you against them?

18 This is the master Yahweh’s declaration: When Gog attacks Yisrael, my fury will mount up into a rage. 19 In my zeal and in the fire of my anger, I declare that on that day there’ll be a terrible earthquake in Yisrael, 20 and the fish in the sea and the birds in the skies, the wild animals in the countryside including all the creatures that crawl on the earth, and every person who’s on the surface of the land will tremble in front of me. The mountains will be thrown down and the cliffs will fall, until every wall falls to the ground. 21 I’ll summon an army against Gog on all my mountains. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. That’s the master Yahweh’s declaration. 22 Then I’ll punish Gog with plagues and bloodshed, as well as overwhelming rain and hailstones and burning sulfur that I’ll rain down on him and his troops and the many nations that joined with him. 23 Yes, I’ll display my greatness and purity, and I’ll make myself known to those many nations, so they’ll know that I am Yahweh.
