OET (OET-RV)So just as one act of disobedience led all people to condemnation, so also one action brought all people to guiltlessness and hence to life.

OET-LVTherefore consequently as by one transgression, to all people to condemnation, thus also by one just_act, to all people for justification of_life.

ULT So then, as through one trespass to all men led to condemnation, so also through one righteous act to all men led to justification of life.

UST Therefore, in the way that God condemned everyone because Adam rejected God’s command, in the same way, God makes everyone righteous, which results in them living eternally, because of the righteous act that Jesus did.

BSB § So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men.

BLB So then, just as through one trespass, it is unto condemnation to all men, so also through one act of righteousness it is unto justification of life to all men.

AICNT Consequently, just as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

OEB Briefly then, just as a single offence resulted for all humanity in condemnation, so, too, a single decree of righteousness resulted for all humanity in that declaration of righteousness which brings life.

WEB So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.

NET Consequently, just as condemnation for all people came through one transgression, so too through the one righteous act came righteousness leading to life for all people.

LSV So, then, as through one offense to all men [it is] to condemnation, so also through one declaration of “Righteous” [it is] to all men to justification of life;

FBV Just as one sin brought condemnation on everyone, in the same way one right act gave everyone the opportunity to live right.

TCNT So then, just as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

T4T So, because one man, Adam, disobeyed God’s law, that resulted in all people deserving to be punished {that God punish them}. Similarly, because one man, Jesus, acted righteously by obeying God when he died, the result was that God is able to erase the record of all people’s sins and enable them to live eternally.

LEB Consequently therefore, as through one trespass came condemnation to all people, so also through one righteous deed came justification of life to all people.

BBE So then, as the effect of one act of wrongdoing was that punishment came on all men, even so the effect of one act of righteousness was righteousness of life for all men.

ASV So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.

DRA Therefore, as by the offence of one, unto all men to condemnation; so also by the justice of one, unto all men to justification of life.

YLT So, then, as through one offence to all men [it is] to condemnation, so also through one declaration of 'Righteous' [it is] to all men to justification of life;

DBY so then as [it was] by one offence towards all men to condemnation, so by one righteousness towards all men for justification of life.

RV So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.

WBS Therefore, as by the offense of one, judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men to justification of life.

KJB Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
(Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. )

BB Lykewyse then, as by the sinne of one sinne came on all men to condempnation: euen so, by the ryghteousnes of one good came vpon all men to the ryghteousnes of lyfe.
(Likewise then, as by the sin of one sin came on all men to condempnation: even so, by the righteousnes of one good came upon all men to the righteousnes of life.)

GNV Likewise then as by the offence of one, the fault came on all men to condemnation, so by the iustifying of one, the benefite abounded toward all men to the iustification of life.

CB Likewyse the as by the synne of one, condemnacion came on all men, euen so also by the righteousness of one, came the iustififienge off life vpon all men.
(Likewyse the as by the sin of one, condemnacion came on all men, even so also by the righteousness of one, came the iustififienge off life upon all men.)

TNT Lykewyse then as by the synne of one condemnacion cam on all men: even so by the iustifyinge of one cometh the rightewesnes that bringeth lyfe vpo all men.
(Likewise then as by the sin of one condemnacion came on all men: even so by the iustifyinge of one cometh/comes the righteousness that bringeth life upo all men. )

WYC Therfor as bi the gilt of oon in to alle men in to condempnacioun, so bi the riytwisnesse of oon in to alle men in to iustifiyng of lijf.
(Therefore as by the gilt of one in to all men in to condempnacioun, so by the righteousness of one in to all men in to iustifiyng of life.)

(Igitur sicut per unius delictum in everyone homines in condemnationem: so and per unius justitiam in everyone homines in justificationem vitæ.)

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

5:18 Christ’s one act of righteousness refers to his death on the cross, a righteous act because Christ chose to die in obedience to the Father’s will (see John 10:18).
• new life for everyone: Paul is not teaching that all people will experience the new life that Christ won through his death on the cross. New life is available to everyone through Christ, but not everyone receives it.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

consequently therefore as by one transgression to all people to condemnation thus also by one just_act to all people for justification ˱of˲_life

Paul is leaving out some of the words that a sentence would need in many languages to be complete. If it would be helpful in your language, you could supply these words from the context. Alternate translation: “So then, as one man trespassed and this trespass caused all men to become condemned, so also one man acted righteously and this act caused all men to become justified for living eternally”

Note 2 topic: grammar-connect-words-phrases

ἄρα οὖν

consequently therefore

So then indicates that what follows in 5:18–21 summarizes the ideas of 5:12–17. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a clearer expression. Alternate translation: “Finally” or “In summary”

Note 3 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result

δι’ & δι’

by & by

See how you translated through in the previous verse.

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

transgression & condemnation & justification

See how you translated trespass, condemnation, and justification in 5:16.

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / gendernotations

(Occurrence -1) πάντας ἀνθρώπους

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἄρα οὖν ὡς διʼ ἑνὸς παραπτώματος εἰς πάντας ἀνθρώπους εἰς κατάκριμα οὕτως καὶ διʼ ἑνὸς δικαιώματος εἰς πάντας ἀνθρώπους εἰς δικαίωσιν ζωῆς)

Although the term men is masculine, Paul is using the word here in a generic sense that includes both men and women. See how your translated all men in 5:12.

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / possession

justification ˱of˲_life

Paul is using the possessive form to describe how justification relates to life. This could mean: (1) justification that leads to life. Alternate translation: “justification that brings eternal life” (2) justification that is life. Alternate translation: “justification, which is eternal life”

Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

˱of˲_life

Here, life refers to “eternal life.” If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this explicitly. Alternate translation: “of eternal life” or “for living forever”
