Readers’ Version

Literal Version

15Then Yahweh gave me another message: 2“Humanity’s child, how is a vine better than any tree with branches that is among the trees in a forest? 3Do people take wood from a vine to make anything? Would anyone make a peg from the wood of a vine to hang anything on it? 4If it’s used as firewood, and if the fire has burnt both ends and even the middle, is it good wood, or indeed good for anything? 5Originally, the wood of the vine couldn’t be used to make anything, surely then, when the fire has burnt it, it still can’t do anything useful.

6Therefore the master Yahweh says this: Unlike the trees in the forests, I’ve given the vine as fuel for fires. I will act in the same way toward Yerushalem’s inhabitants 7and I’ll start to take action against them. Even if they get out of the fire, the fire will still consume them, so you’ll all know that I am Yahweh, when I take action against them. 8Then I’ll make the land into an abandoned wasteland because they chose to worship other gods. That is the master Yahweh’s declaration.”

15and_ the_word_of _he/it_was of_YHWH to_me to_say.
2Oh_son_of humankind what is_it the_wood_of the_vine from_all tree_of the_branch which it_is in/on/at/with_trees_of the_forest.
3Taken from_him/it wood for_doing into_anything or do_people_take from_him/it a_peg to_hang on/upon/above_him/it any_of vessel.
4There into_the_fire it_is_given for_food DOM the_two_of ends_of_its it_consumes the_fire and_middle_of_its it_is_charred useful for_anything.
5There in/on/at/with_was_it complete not it_was_made for_anything indeed if/because a_fire consumed_it and_charred and_made again into_anything.
6for_so/thus/hence thus my_master he_says YHWH just_as the_wood_of the_vine in/on/at/with_trees_of the_forest which given_him to_the_fire for_food so I_have_given DOM the_inhabitants_of Yərūshālam/(Jerusalem).
7And_set DOM face_of_my (is)_in_them from_the_fire they_have_come_out and_the_fire consume_them and_know if/because_that I am_YHWH in/on/at/with_set_I DOM face_of_my in/on/at/with_them.
8And_make DOM the_earth/land a_desolation because they_have_acted_unfaithfully unfaithfulness the_utterance_of my_master YHWH.
