OET (OET-RV) So while her husband was still living, he’d call her an adulteress if she slept with another man, but after her husband is deceased, she’s free from the law and doesn’t become an adulteress if she marries another man.![]()
OET-LV Therefore consequently living the husband, an_adulteress he_will_be_calling her, if she_may_become joined to_man another, but if may_die_off the husband, free she_is from the law, which not to_be she an_adulteress having_become to_man another.![]()
ULT So then, the husband being alive, if she becomes, married to another husband, she will be titled an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress, having become, married to another husband.
UST Therefore, if she marries another man while her husband is alive, according to God’s law she will be an adulterous woman. However, if her husband dies, she no longer has to obey what God’s law requires of those who are married. As a result, she would not be an adulterous woman if she married another man.
BSB & MSB So then, if she is [joined] to another man [while her] husband is [still] alive, she is called an adulteress; but if [her] husband dies, she is free from that law [and] is not an adulteress [if she marries] another man.
BLB So then, if she is to another man, the husband being alive, she will be called an adulteress; but if the husband should die, she is free from the law, so as for her not to be an adulteress, having been to another man.
AICNT So then, if she is joined to another man while her husband is alive, {she}[fn] will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress, though she is joined to another man.
OEB If, then, during her husband’s lifetime, she unites herself to another man, she will be called an adulteress; but, if her husband dies, the law has no further hold on her, nor, if she unites herself to another man, is she an adulteress.
WEBBE & WMBB So then if, while the husband lives, she is joined to another man, she would be called an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she is joined to another man.
NET So then, if she is joined to another man while her husband is alive, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she is joined to another man, she is not an adulteress.
LSV so then, the husband being alive, she will be called an adulteress if she may become another man’s; and if the husband may die, she is free from the law, so as not to be an adulteress, having become another man’s.
FBV So if she lives with another man while her husband is alive, she would be committing adultery. However, if her husband dies and then she marries another man, she wouldn't be guilty of adultery.
TCNT So then, she will be called an adulteress if she is joined to another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law and is not committing adultery if she is joined to another man.
T4T Therefore, a woman will be called {people will call a woman} an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she no longer has to obey that law. Then she will not be an adulteress if she marries another man.
LEB Therefore as a result, if she belongs to another man while[fn] her husband is living, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress if she[fn] belongs to another man.
BBE So if, while the husband is living, she is joined to another man, she will get the name of one who is untrue to her husband: but if the husband is dead, she is free from the law, so that she is not untrue, even if she takes another man.
Moff Accordingly, she will be termed an adulteress if she becomes another man's while her husband is alive; but if her husband dies, she is freed from the law of "the husband," so that she is no adulteress if she becomes another man's.
Wymth This accounts for the fact that if during her husband's life she lives with another man, she will be stigmatized as an adulteress; but that if her husband is dead she is no longer under the old prohibition, and even though she marries again, she is not an adulteress.
ASV So then if, while the husband liveth, she be joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if the husband die, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she be joined to another man.
DRA Therefore, whilst her husband liveth, she shall be called an adulteress, if she be with another man: but if her husband be dead, she is delivered from the law of her husband; so that she is not an adulteress, if she be with another man.
YLT so, then, the husband being alive, an adulteress she shall be called if she may become another man's; and if the husband may die, she is free from the law, so as not to be an adulteress, having become another man's.
Drby so then, the husband being alive, she shall be called an adulteress if she be to another man; but if the husband should die, she is free from the law, so as not to be an adulteress, though she be to another man.
RV So then if, while the husband liveth, she be joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if the husband die, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she be joined to another man.
(So then if, while the husband liveth/lives, she be joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if the husband die, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she be joined to another man.)
SLT Wherefore, the husband living, she shall be called adulteress if she be to another man: but if the man die, she is free from the law; not to be an adulteress, being to another man.
Wbstr So then, if while her husband liveth, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband is dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
KJB-1769 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
(So then if, while her husband liveth/lives, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.)
KJB-1611 So then if while her husband liueth, shee be married to another man, shee shalbe called an adulteresse: but if her husband be dead, shee is free from that law, so that she is no adulteresse, though she be married to another man.
(So then if while her husband liveth/lives, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteresse: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteresse, though she be married to another man.)
Bshps So then yf whyle the man lyueth, she couple her selfe with another man, she shalbe counted a wedlocke breaker: But yf the man be dead, she is free from the law, so that she is no wedlocke breaker, though she couple her selfe with another man.
(So then if while the man liveth/lives, she couple herself with another man, she shall be counted a wedlock breaker: But if the man be dead, she is free from the law, so that she is no wedlock breaker, though she couple herself with another man.)
Gnva So then, if while the man liueth, she taketh another man, she shalbe called an adulteresse: but if the man be dead, she is free from the Law, so that shee is not an adulteresse, though shee take another man.
(So then, if while the man liveth/lives, she taketh/takes another man, she shall be called an adulteresse: but if the man be dead, she is free from the Law, so that she is not an adulteresse, though she take another man.)
Cvdl Yf she be now with another man, whyle the man lyueth, she shal be called a wedlocke breaker. But yf the man be deed, then is she fre from the lawe, so that she is no wedlocke breaker, yf she be with another man.
(If she be now with another man, while the man liveth/lives, she shall be called a wedlock breaker. But if the man be deed, then is she free from the law, so that she is no wedlock breaker, if she be with another man.)
TNT So then yf whill the man liveth she couple her selfe with another man she shalbe counted a wedlocke breaker. But yf the man be deed she is fre from the lawe: so that she is no wedlocke breaker though she couple her selfe with another man.
(So then if while the man liveth/lives she couple herself with another man she shall be counted a wedlock breaker. But if the man be deed she is free from the law: so that she is no wedlock breaker though she couple herself with another man.)
Wycl Therfor sche schal be clepid auoutresse, if sche be with another man, while the hosebonde lyueth; but if hir hosebonde is deed, sche is delyuered fro the lawe of the hosebonde, that sche be not auoutresse, if sche be with another man.
(Therefore she shall be called adulteress, if she be with another man, while the husband liveth/lives; but if her husband is deed, she is delivered from the law of the husband, that she be not adulteress, if she be with another man.)
