The phrase received the weight means that these men, after observing the silver and gold and objects that Ezra weighed out to them (8:26–27), accepted responsibility for the full amount of it according to the charge that Ezra had just given them. In this case, Ezra is using our in the inclusive sense, that is, it includes the reader, since he is reporting his trip to fellow believers in God. Alternate translation: “the God to whom we all belong”
