OET (OET-RV) As the scriptures say:
⇔ ‘The person who gathered much didn’t have too much,
⇔ and the person who gathered little didn’t have any lack.’
OET-LV As it_has_been_written:
The one with_the much, not been_plentiful, and the one with_the little, no had_less.
SR-GNT Καθὼς γέγραπται, “Ὁ τὸ πολὺ, οὐκ ἐπλεόνασεν, καὶ ὁ τὸ ὀλίγον, οὐκ ἠλαττόνησεν.” ‡
(Kathōs gegraptai, “Ho to polu, ouk epleonasen, kai ho to oligon, ouk aʸlattonaʸsen.”)
Key: yellow:verbs, light-green:nominative/subject, orange:accusative/object, red:negative.
Note: Automatic aligning of the OET-RV to the LV is done by some temporary software, hence the OET-RV alignments are incomplete (and may occasionally be wrong).
ULT just as it is written:
⇔ “The one gathering much did not have too much,
⇔ and the one gathering little did not have too little.”
UST We want it to be like what someone wrote when God powerfully gave food to the Israelites:

8:15 This refers to the gathering of manna in Exodus 16:8.
TCNT As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”
T4T If that happens, the result will be like it is written {like someone/Moses wrote} in the Scriptures about the time when God provided manna for his people,
¶ If someone gathered a lot of manna, he still did not have more than he needed, because he gave some to someone who did not have enough. And those who gathered only a little manna still had all that they needed [LIT], because others who gathered more than they needed gave some manna to them.
LEB just as it is written, “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”[fn]

8:15 Paul quotes from Exod 16:18 to say that there is a mutual responsibility among Christians: Affluent believers (the Corinthians) should help poor believers (in Jerusalem) so that all may have enough.
Note 1 topic: writing-quotations
καθὼς γέγραπται
as ˱it˲_/has_been/_written
Here Paul quotes from the Old Testament Scriptures, specifically from Exodus 16:18. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could format these words in a different way, or you could include this information in a footnote. Alternate translation: “just as it is written in the Scriptures” or “just as you can read in Exodus”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
γέγραπται
˱it˲_/has_been/_written
If your language does not use this passive form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. If you need to say who did the action, it is clear from the context that it was the person who wrote the book of Exodus. Alternate translation: “someone wrote in Exodus” or “it says in Exodus”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
ὁ τὸ πολὺ, οὐκ ἐπλεόνασεν; καὶ ὁ τὸ ὀλίγον, οὐκ ἠλαττόνησεν
the_‹one› ˱with˲_the much not abounded and the_‹one› ˱with˲_the little no had_less
Here Paul is quoting from a story about how God led the Israelites through the desert. They did not have much food, so God miraculously made something like bread appear on the ground for them. The Israelites called the food “manna,” and God commanded each of them to gather a specific amount for each person. This amount was just right, which is what this quotation describes. If it would be helpful in your language, you could include some of this information in your translation or in a footnote. Alternate translation: “Any Israelite who gathered much manna did not have too much, and any Israelite who gathered little manna did not have too little”
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / genericnoun
(Occurrence -1) ὁ τὸ
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: καθὼς γέγραπται ὁ τὸ πολὺ οὐκ ἐπλεόνασεν καὶ ὁ τὸ ὀλίγον οὐκ ἠλαττόνησεν)
The phrase the one represents people in general, not one particular person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a more natural expression. Alternate translation: “Those … those” or “Everyone … everyone”
