UST The individual should bring these two birds to the priest. The priest should first present the bird that will offer as a purifying sacrifice. He should break its neck and twist its head by pinching the bird behind its neck. However, the priest should not remove the head completely.

5:7-13 The poor also needed to secure atonement and reconciliation. Birds (5:7) were permitted for those too poor to afford a lamb (cp. 1:14-17). Although an animal offering was typically required for atonement (17:11), God in his grace allowed the bloodless offering of flour if the worshiper could not even afford two birds (5:11).

The expression from the back of its neck refers to the nape of the bird's neck. The priest was instructed to take hold of this location on the bird and twist it, such that the bird was killed but the head was not removed completely. If your language has a word for this part of a bird’s body, consider using it here. Alternate translation: “from the nape of the bird’s neck”
